Kathryn Jane Ladehoff

Kathryn Jane Ladehoff, the daughter of Earle Raymond, Jr. and Eliza Jane (Buckner) Phares, was born August 19, 1934, at her grandparents’, Loren and Auda Buckner’s home, in Audubon, Iowa and died April 11, 2017, at the Friendship Home in Audubon, Iowa at the age of 82 years, 7 months, and 22 days.
Kathy was baptized at the Christian Church in Audubon, Iowa. She attended rural schools and then the Audubon Community Elementary and High School.
On February 8, 1953, she was united in marriage to Robert Henry Ladehoff at the Christian Church in Audubon. Seven children Kimberly, Robert, Jr., Kristyl, Karole, Karla, Russell and David were born to this union. They farmed several farms in Audubon County, near Carroll. Iowa and Coon Rapids, Iowa before settling in Gray, Iowa in 1969. During this time Kathy was a homemaker caring for the children and helping Robert farm. Later they moved into Audubon for a time then to Coon Rapids, and then Carroll in 2005. In 1997 Kathy became a Foster Grandparent for the Fairview Elementary School. She worked one on one with Kindergarten students teaching them to tie their shoes, their ABC”s, their 123”s, and reading. She estimated she had helped over 1800 children and the children fondly called her Grandma Kathy. In March of 2017 she moved to the Friendship Home in Audubon, Iowa.
Preceding her in death was her grandson Jonathan Jeray; her daughter-in-law Joyce Ladehoff; her parents; and her step father Emmert Blohm.
Survivors include her children Kimberly and husband Ron Roberts of Panora, Iowa, Robert Ladehoff, Jr. of Swaledale, Iowa, Kristyl Anderson of Exira, Iowa, Karole Williams of Swaledale, Iowa, Karla and husband Charles Cieralone of Osceola, Iowa, Russell and wife Lea Ladehoff of Killduff, Iowa, and David and wife Kerri Ladehoff of Templeton, Iowa; her 16 grandchildren and spouses: Joey and Michelle Wanninger, Jennifer and Todd Thorn, Julie and Termar Watson, Jeff John Wanninger and Kelli Lemon, Katy and David Bottiglierie, Bill and Morgan Anderson, Laura Anderson and Paul Knight, Amanda Jeray, Richard and Melanie Jeray, Michael Hauser and Tia Frederick, Tanya Schieffer and Jay Baumhover, Samantha Schieffer and Dalton Springer, Kaitlyn Ladehoff and Andrew Bruellman, Klaire Ladehoff, Cole Ladehoff, Silas Ladehoff, Chelsea, Cameron, and Cooper Cieralone; 14 great grandchildren, 5 step great grandchildren; her brothers Russell Blohm and David and wife Debbie Blohm all of Audubon, Iowa; her niece Angela and husband Marty Barclay of Audubon, Iowa and Russell Blohm, III of Osceola, Iowa; other relatives and friends.
There will be viewing at the Kessler Funeral Home in Audubon Saturday morning, April 15, 2017, from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the service at 2:00 P.M. The family will meet with friends from 12:00 noon until the time of the service at the Kessler Funeral Home in Audubon, Iowa. Funeral service will be conducted by Pastor Gary Freeland on Saturday afternoon April 15, 2017, at 2:00 P.M. at the Kessler Funeral Home in Audubon, Iowa. Inurnment will be in the Maple Grove Cemetery at a later date.
