Kay Juhl

Kay Ellen (Foster) Juhl, 65, life long resident of Atlantic, Iowa, passed away at Cass County Memorial Hospital in Atlantic on Monday, October 15, 2012, following a courageous battle against cancer.


Kay was born February 7, 1947, in Atlantic, Iowa, to Corneilius (Vic) James and Frances Hattie (Constable) Foster. She attended Atlantic Community Schools. Kay was married to Albert Petersen and had three daughters, Lisa, Amy and Cindy. She later married Richard H. Juhl Sr., and had two daughters, Jody and Jane. She was a dedicated homemaker, belonged to the Eagles Lodge for many years and proud member of the Platime Rebels.


Kay enjoyed going to coffee with friends. Her favorite pastimes were thrift store shopping, crafting, scratch-off tickets, fishing, cruising around in her convertible, listening to her jukebox, quilting, crocheting, and teaching her friends to sew. She especially enjoyed her wiener dogs, Charlie, Hannah and Lucy. Above all this, her favorite activity was spending time with family and grandchildren.


Surviving Kay are her five daughters, Lisa (Dick) Schnackel and their children, Carl and Caye of Crescent; Amy (Wade) Jessen and their children, Trenten of Anita, Brandon (Sara) Bonnesen and daughter, Kelsey of Audubon, Matthew (Morgan) Bonnesen of Anita; Cindy (Steve) Brownsberger and their children, Kyle, Ryan and Bret of Adel; Jody (Eric) Stoll and their children, Alex and Ella of Lake Park; Jane (Donnie) Ward and their children, Amber, Chelsy and Dannie of Lewis. Also surviving are her brothers, Jim (Priscilla) Foster of CA; Jack Foster of CA; and sister, Virginia (Verlyn) Berg of Rock Rapids. Stepchildren, Roxanne Woolsey, Chuck Juhl, Linda Juhl, Dick Juhl Jr., Paula Jameson and Keli Juhl; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.


She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Richard Juhl Sr.; and sisters, Shirley Helmick and Vera Schaaf; and step-daughter, Christine Watson

A visitation will be held from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, October 18, 2012, at Hockenberry Family Care in Atlantic, Iowa.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, October 18, 2012, at Hockenberry Family Care in Atlantic.

Interment will be held in the Atlantic Cemetery following the funeral service.
