Keith Allen King

September 26, 1947 — October 17, 2016

Keith Allen King, the son of Charles E. King, Jr. and Victoria (Masilunas) King was born September 26, 1947, in Manning, Iowa and died October 17, 2016, at Mercy Hospital Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa at the age of 69 years and 21 days.
Keith was baptized at the Gray United Methodist Church in Gray, Iowa. He attended the Gray Consolidated Schools in Gray, Iowa then was a member of the first class to graduate from the “New” Audubon High School in 1965. On September 9, 1965, Keith enlisted in the U.S. Navy. During his tour of duty he served on the aircraft carrier the U.S.S. Oriskany as an aviation electronics mate, which sailed off the coast of Vietnam. He was honorably discharged on January 25, 1969. Keith remained in California and was employed at a factory that manufactured parts for small planes. Later he returned to the Audubon area and drove trucks for his father for a short time. He drove for William’s Trucking, then the Audubon Ready-Mix, and later for A & G Farm Service.
On July 9, 1977, he was united in marriage to Beverly (Peterson) Feltner at the First Presbyterian Church in Audubon. Keith worked at the J.P.I. bearing factory in Atlantic, Iowa for a while then traveled to Alaska to work on his brother’s fishing boat for 2 years. He returned to Audubon and was hired by Audubon County Secondary Roads and worked with the bridge and ditch crew and later drove a rock truck until he retired. By far, his most enjoyable job was working for the Chambers Family. This harvest marked his 25th year driving grain trucks for Chambers Farms.
Keith was a member of the Audubon Fire Department for over 15 years and was the department’s photographer. He was a member of American Legion Post No. 120, Audubon, Iowa and a lifetime member of Dale Christensen Post 4119, V.F.W. Keith enjoyed people and never knew a stranger.
