Keith Ticknor

Keith Ticknor, 66, of Camdenton, Missouri, and formerly of Anita, Iowa, passed away Sunday, October 21, 2007, at the Methodist Hospital in Rochester, Minnesota, from complications of Multiple Myeloma.

Keith Allen Ticknor was born on December 15, 1940, in Casey, Iowa, the son of Allen and Lucile (Whetstone) Ticknor.

He lived on a farm north of Anita, Iowa, in Audubon County with his family. Keith graduated from Anita High School in 1959. He continued his education at Iowa State University and received a Bachelor's Degree in Forestry in 1963.

Keith was united in marriage to his high school girlfriend; Sharon May Hamann on June 3, 1961 and was blessed with 3 children, Kirk, Lisa and Kristin.

He served his country in the United States Army. Keith began his successful career in 1969, as a District Conservationist, with the United States Department of Agriculture, Natural Resources Conservation Service in Osceola, Iowa. He was transferred to Lincoln, Nebraska in 1978 as a Forestry Conservationist and finished his 30+ year career in Washington D.C. as National Forester.

Keith and Sharon retired to their favorite vacation home at the Lake of the Ozarks, Missouri, in 2000, where they are members of Ozark Chapel United Methodist Church.

Keith is survived by his wife of 46 years, Sharon of Camdenton, Missouri; son, Kirk William Ticknor and his wife, Wendy of Columbus, Georgia; daughters, Lisa Ann Loseke and her husband, Tim of Lincoln, Nebraska and Kristin Kay Schmidt and her husband, Darrin of Omaha, Nebraska; grandsons, Robert and John Ticknor, Benjamin, Nathaniel and Nicholas Loseke, and Ryan, Samuel and Miles Schmidt; parents, Allen and Lucile Ticknor of Anita, Iowa; sister, Peggy McLaughlin and her husband, Larry of Decatur, Illinois; sister-in-law, Karen Laartz and her husband, Lyle of Gravoid Mills, Missouri; foster brothers, James and Don Stanley and families and Harold and Hans DeRocher and family; foster sister, Bonnie Petersen and family; two nieces; four nephews; mother-in-law, Marcella Hamann; several aunts and uncles; and numerous cousins and friends.

He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Charles and Grace Ticknor and Ray and Maggie Whetstone.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., Friday, October 26, 2007, at the Anita United Methodist Church in Anita, Iowa.

Burial will be at the Atlantic Cemetery. Following the committal services the family invites you to join them for lunch in the Hockenberry Family Care Community Room in Atlantic.

Visitation with the family present will be from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m., Thursday, October 25, 2007, at Hockenberry Family Care in Atlantic.

Hockenberry Family Care in Atlantic is in charge of the arrangements.
