Kenneth Beymer

Kenneth D. Beymer, 82, of Atlantic, Iowa, passed away Wednesday evening October 22, 2014, as the result of an automobile accident.

Kenneth Dean Beymer was born June 11, 1932 in Meade, Kansas, the son of George and Laura (Truex) Beymer.

At the age of 12, his family moved to Jacksonville, Iowa.

Ken married Marie Bock December 31, 1952, in Des Moines, Iowa. They spent all their married life in Atlantic where he worked at the Ford dealerships for over 35 years. He owned and operated Ken's Repair for 20 years, also in Atlantic. Ken was a Korean War veteran having served his country from 1953 to 1955. He was a participant of the latest Honor Flight to Washington, D.C. and was thrilled to be given the opportunity to see the memorials.

Ken was a member of SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church and the American Legion.

In his spare time, he enjoyed gardening, picking fruit from his trees, and helping his brother-in-law with farming.

Ken loved spending time with his children, grandchildren and his great-grandchildren. He also had a special love for his dog, Chopper.

Surviving Ken are his children, Ron (Shari) Beymer of Hamlin, IA, Theresa (Ray) Logemann and Mary (Clay) Gittins, both of Rockwell City, IA, Connie Beymer of Atlantic, IA and Mike (Donna) Beymer of Atlantic, IA; 15 grandchildren, Jennifer Hansen, Stephanie Schultes, Richard Beymer, Veronica Baker, Justin Logemann, Christel Bense, Nathan Logemann, Misty Sease, Jason Beymer, Nicole Jensen, Kyle Beymer, Ryan Beymer, Corey Beymer, Kelsey Gittins, Hayley Gittins; 26 great-grandchildren; sisters, Katherine Brown of Urbandale, IA and Mary Ann Holiday of Richfield, MN; and his dog, Chopper.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Marie in 2009; and brother, Keith Rasmussen.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family for designation at a later time.

Visitation with family will be from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. with a prayer service at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 26, 2014, at Hockenberry Family Care in Atlantic, Iowa.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m., Monday, October 27, 2014, at SS Peter & Paul Catholic Church with burial in SS Peter & Paul Catholic Cemetery, all in Atlantic, Iowa.

Hockenberry Family Care in Atlantic, Iowa, is in charge of the arrangements.
