Kenneth E. Lebeck, 62, of Atlantic, Iowa, passed away Monday, August 11, 2008, at the Exira Care Center, Exira, Iowa.
Kenneth Eugene Lebeck was born July 18, 1946, in Audubon County, Iowa, the son of Edward and Mary Jane (Potter) Lebeck. He spent his entire childhood in Audubon, attended school there and graduated from Audubon High in 1964.
Kenny worked for various farmers in Audubon County before being drafted and spending his military service in Vietnam.
On November 29, 1969, Kenny married Cheryl Jo Wanninger at the Presbyterian Church in Audubon. They moved to Atlantic shortly thereafter where he worked 18 years for Beaudines Lamp Factory and then 20 years for the Atlantic Community Schools.
Kenny was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Atlantic and Crestwood Hills Golf Course in Anita. He was also a past 20 year member of the Elks Lodge.
Kenny enjoyed golfing, bowling and fishing.
Surviving Kenny is his wife, Sherrie J. Lebeck of Atlantic, Iowa; his 2 daughters, Alecia Lebeck of Atlantic, IA, and Amberly Lebeck Brown, and her husband, Patrick, of Phoenix, Arizona; his brothers, Don Lebeck and his wife, Dorothy, Ronald Lebeck and his wife, Mavis and Wayne Lebeck and his wife, Pat all of Audubon, IA; his sister, Charlotte Avey of Carroll, Iowa; brother-in-law, Joe Wanninger and his wife, Jill, of Jefferson, Iowa; sisters-in-law, Debbie Hupbert and Sandy Callihan and her husband, Harry, all of Omaha, Nebraska; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death were his father and mother, Edward and Mary Jane Lebeck; 2 brothers, Richard and Jerald Lebeck; and a sister-in-law, Marville (Kjar) Lebeck.
The funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m., Wednesday, August 13, 2008, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Atlantic, Iowa, with the Reverend Dennis Meyer officiating. Visitation will start at 12:30 p.m., Wednesday, one hour prior to the funeral, also at the church.
Burial will be in Arlington Heights Cemetery in Audubon, Iowa, with military rites conducted by the Audubon American Legion Post #120 and the VFW #4119.
