Kay R. Hill, 64, of Atlantic, Iowa, passed away Saturday, July 7, 2007 at the Bergan-Mercy Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska.
Kay Russell Hill was born June 25, 1943, in Kadoka, South Dakota, the son of Robert R. and Lucille Byrkit Hill.
He grew up in Hot Springs, South Dakota; lived in Brookings, South Dakota for seven years; Strawberry Point, Iowa for almost 2 years; Sergeant Bluff, Iowa for 1 year; and had lived in the Atlantic, Iowa area since 1973.
On September 7, 1963, Kay married Margene Fay Schwartz in Rapid City, South Dakota.
He worked for the Iowa DNR for 35 years and was a member of the American Fisheries Society.
He was also a member of the United Congregational Methodist Church in Lewis, Iowa.
Kay is survived by his wife, Margene Hill of Atlantic, Iowa; two sons, Richard Hill and his wife, Michelle of Schaumburg, Illinois, Tony Hill and his wife, Kirsten of Minneapolis, Minnesota; two daughters, Nadine Jessen and her husband, Micah of Exira, Iowa, Tessa Acker and her husband, David of Aurora, Illinois; nine grandchildren, Amanda, Stephen and Monica Jessen, Alec, Marcus and Abby Hill, Madeline and Erik Hill, and Benjamin Acker. Also surviving is a brother, Bernard Hill and his wife, Aletha of Fort Collins, Colorado; one sister, Beva Paulson and her husband, Guy of Fargo, North Dakota, as well as several cousins, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Lucille Hill of Hot Springs, South Dakota; two brothers, Arthur and Floyd Hill; and a sister, Gwen Hill Anderson.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, July 11, 2007 in the chapel at Hockenberry Family Care in Atlantic with the Reverend Christine Tinker of the Lewis United Congregational Methodist Church officiating.
Visitation with the family is scheduled for Tuesday evening, from 7:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Hockenberrys.
Committal services and interment will be in the Atlantic Cemetery.
The family is requesting that memorials go to the American Diabetes Association in Kay's memory.
Hockenberry Family Care in Atlantic is assisting with the arrangements.
