Laura E. Frisbie, 87, of Anita, Iowa (formerly of Wiota and Atlantic) passed away Sunday, October 12, 2008, at Colonial Manor in Anita.
Laura Erma Beecher was born on June 19, 1921, in Scotland, South Dakota, the daughter of Charles and Lizzie (Marsh) Beecher.
Her family moved to Anita in 1937, and Laura graduated from the Anita High School in 1939. After graduation she worked in the Atlantic Canning Factory. Laura was also a nanny, nicknamed "Daisy."
On March 12, 1946, she married Jesse Frisbie after he completed his time in the service. They settled in the Wiota area where they farmed and raised their family. In 1977, the couple retired from the farm and moved to Atlantic. She lived in Atlantic until November of 2005 when she moved to Colonial Manor Nursing Home.
Laura was a member of the Wiota Methodist Church, American Legion, Rebekah Lodge, and a long time member of the NGA Club.
In her spare time she enjoyed crocheting, needlepoint and embroidering. Laura will also be remembered for her cooking.
Laura is survived by her two sons, Kenneth Frisbie and his wife, JoLee of Owatonna, Minnesota, and Randall Frisbie and his wife, Mary of Atlantic, Iowa; her daughters, Judy Elling and her husband, Ron of Concordia, Missouri, and Linda Frisbie and her husband, George Badalamenti of West Des Moines, Iowa; six grandchildren, Chris Elling of Kansas City, Missouri, Lisa Elling-White of Kansas City, Missouri, Jennifer Frisbie of Mankato, Minnesota, Joshua Frisbie of Indianapolis, Indiana, Andrew Frisbie of Iowa City, Iowa, and Maggie Frisbie of Ames, Iowa; her two great-grandchildren, Dalton and Jessica Elling-White; her brother, Dean Beecher and his wife, Imo of Atlantic, Iowa; her nieces and nephews; and many other family and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jesse in 1986; and her daughter, Jolene; and her brothers, Ivan Beecher and a brother in infancy.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, October 15, 2008, in the chapel at Hockenberry Family Care in Atlantic, Iowa, with the Reverend Bonnie Peterson of the Wiota Methodist Church officiating.
Burial will be in the Atlantic Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 1:00 to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, October 14, 2008, at Hockenberry Family Care in Atlantic, with the family present to greet friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
