LaVeda M. Pine, 84, of Anita, Iowa, passed away Wednesday, November 23, 2011, at Creighton University Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska.
LaVeda Marie Pine was born to Hans and Amanda (Nelsen) Christensen on September 10, 1927, in Anita, Iowa. She attended country grade school in the Anita area and then graduated from Anita High School with the class of 1946. She married Harold Pine on March 18, 1950, in Anita, Iowa.
Most of Petey's career was spent at the Anita State Bank where she loved working with and helping people. She was very heavily involved in the community with projects concerning the golf course, Housing Authority, Evergreen Cemetery and helping organize the centennial and quasi-centennial. She was a life-time member of the United Methodist Church where she was treasurer for many years. She spent her entire life in Anita and the last 49 years in the same home.
LaVeda, known as Petey, loved her children and grandchildren and enjoyed their accomplishments. She forever loved her husband, Harold, and still loved him till the end, 48 years after the Lord called him home.
Petey always wanted to go to college but was never able to attend. One of her great joys and source of pride was that all three of her children graduated college.
Her great passion was playing golf and she was very active in the development of Anita's golf course. She loved watching Tiger Woods. Her passion for sports was virtually for all sports having played on the Anita basketball teams during high school. She also absolutely loved the St. Louis Cardinals in baseball and the Green Bay Packers in football, winning money bets from her son whenever the Packers beat the Chicago Bears. She also loved participating in local community Monday Night Football contests for many years.
Petey loved her home and was so content to just be at home and work in her yard. She was a very proud woman and took great pride in remodeling her basement herself, and taking care of her own home repairs and her yard until her later years. Petey hated to ask for help, she could do it herself!
She loved standing at her kitchen window, which faced the west, and looking out over her spacious backyard. She enjoyed vacationing with her family and especially loved walking on the beach.
Most of all, Petey was loved by others because she truly loved and cared about everyone she met.
This is not goodbye, this is until we meet again.
Preceding Petey in death are her parents; her husband; her siblings, Shirley Christensen, Delbert (Edna) Christensen, Merlyn (Marcella) Christensen and Judith Smith; and her brother-in-law, Duane Littleton.
