Laverne Mcelfish

Laverne E. McElfish, 82, of Massena, Iowa, passed away Sunday, February 24, 2008, at the Cass County Memorial Hospital in Atlantic.

Laverne Eugene McElfish was born February 5, 1926, in Massena, Iowa, the son of Virgil E. and Edith H. (Peterson) McElfish.

He attended several colleges and had received his Bachelors degree.

Laverne served his country during WWII in the United States Navy and later as an agent for the U.S. Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms Department.

He is survived by his special friend, Ada Goshorn as well as many cousins and friends.

Laverne was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Delerece; and a brother, Bob.

His wish for cremation has been carried out and a private, family memorial service has been held. At his request, there will be no public service, however, we ask everyone who knew Laverne to keep him close to your heart and in your memory.

Memorials may be made to the Massena Fire Department.
