Leonora Jones

Leonora Elizabeth Mennealy was born June 15, 1921, in Griswold, Iowa, the daughter of James Albert and Laura Mae (Dale) Mennealy and went to be with the Lord Tuesday, February 4, 2014, at the Atlantic Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Atlantic, Iowa.

She grew up in Griswold, attending the Griswold schools. Leonora was baptized at the Christian Church in Griswold. She was married to Lowell Neil Jones in Griswold on January 9, 1939. Leonora and Lowell were blessed with four sons. After moving to Atlantic, Leonora attended the First Church of Christ.

Leonora spent most of her life as a farm wife. She also worked at Cass County Memorial Hospital for 15 years. Leonora loved to spend time with family and friends. She enjoyed baking, playing cards and camping.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lowell Jones and her son, Byron Jones.

Leonora is survived by her sons, Larry Gordon (Donna) Jones of Atlantic, Max Allen (Vickie) Jones of Waukee, Iowa, and Crest Stuart (Shirley) Jones of Stuart, Iowa; 15 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Leonora's family would like to thank the Cass County Memorial Hospital, Care Initiatives Hospice and her "family" at Atlantic Nursing and Rehab Center for the loving care she received.

Private family graveside services will be held at a later date.
