Leroy Enfield

February 10, 1926 — March 15, 2009

Leroy Enfield, the son of Pearl (Byers) Enfield and Roy Enfield, was born February 10, 1926, in Polk County, Iowa and died March 15, 2009, of pneumonia at The University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska at the age of 83 years, 1 month, and 5 days.
Leroys family moved to Earlham, Iowa in 1936 and later to the Worthington Church Community southeast of Earlham. On November 17, 1944, Leroys mother was killed in a tragic car accident. Subsequently, Leroy moved to the Glenwood, Iowa State Institution where he worked in the greenhouse. He lived there for a number of years before transferring to several other group homes in northern and western Iowa. His most recent home was the Atlantic, Iowa Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Leroy loved working with the greenhouse flowers, raising a garden, making ceramics and playing the board game Sorry.
Preceding him in death were his parents and his step-father Charles Mleynek.
Survivors include his two sisters, Hazel (Dale) Stanley of Winterset, IA and Darlene Wink of Las Vegas, NV; nieces and nephews: Dean and Earlene Stanley of Des Moines, IA; Don and Kay Stanley of Winterset; Terry and Loretta Gabby; Linda and Pat Donnelly, all of Las Vegas, NV; Vicki and Dan Didio of Hendersen, NV; great-nieces and great-nephews; other relatives and friends.

Intermnet willbe in the Earlham Cemetery in Earlham, IA.

Service:
Graveside funeral services will be conducted by Pastor Alan Stanley on Friday, March 20, 2009 at 1:00 P.M. at the Earlham Cemetery in Earlham, IA.
