Lillian Headlee, 92, of Atlantic, Iowa, passed away Thursday, January 11, 2007, at the Cass County Memorial Hospital in Atlantic.
Lillian Headlee was born April 11, 1914, on the family farm southwest of Atlantic, the daughter of Peder C. and Rosa C. (Paulson) Pedersen.
She was a 1932 graduate of the Lewis High School.
On November 5, 1938, Lillian married John E. Headlee in Adel, Iowa. The family farmed in the Carroll, Harlan, Exira and Coon Rapids, Iowa, areas and came to Atlantic, to farm for a total of 33 years before retiring in February of 1971.
Lillian was a longtime member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Atlantic, where she was an active member of the Quilters Club. Besides her quilting, Lillian was known for her generosity and how she watched over and cared for her family and friends.
Lillian is survived by her son Jim Headlee and his wife, Linn, of Atlantic, Iowa; her daughter, Carolyn Jones and her husband, Jim of Lexington, Nebraska; four grandchildren, Chad Headlee and his wife, Christy of Denver, Colorado, Jaime Headlee of Chicago, Illinois, Amanda Jones of Dallas, Texas, Jeff Jones and his wife, Sarah of Grimes, Iowa and two great-grandchildren, Colin and Addyson Jones of Grimes, Iowa. Also surviving are Lillian's two sisters, Christine Miller and Beulah Reed, both of Atlantic, Iowa, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Peder C. and Rosa C. (Paulson) Pedersen; five brothers, Hans, William, Elmer, Emmert and Albert Pedersen; as well as two sisters, Agnes Trede and Elsie Pedersen.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, January 13, 2007, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Atlantic with the Reverends Dennis and Sally Meyer officiating.
Visitation is scheduled for Friday, from 1:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. with the family present from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Hockenberry Family Care in Atlantic.
Committal services and interment will be in the Atlantic Cemetery with fellowship and lunch following in the Fellowship Hall at St. Paul's Lutheran Church.
The family is requesting that memorials go to St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Atlantic in Lillian's memory.
