Linda Jane Nichols

It is with great sadness that the family of Linda Nichols announces her passing on January 23, 2025, at the age of 76. Linda passed peacefully at 11:35 AM at Cass Health in Atlantic, Iowa, surrounded by loved ones.

Linda was born on March 16, 1948, in Omaha, Nebraska to Lester and Helen Mangeldorf. She spent her early years in Adair, Iowa, where she graduated from Adair High School. She later became known for her work as a waitress/cook at the Jesse James Cafe, and later became the city clerk of Adair where she worked for 33 years.

She was a passionate and loving individual who loved fishing, reading, visiting with her friends, cooking sweets, gambling with her Aunt and Uncle, and spending time with her family. Those who knew her will always remember her kindness, laughter, and her deep devotion to her family and community.

Linda is preceded in death by her parents, Lester Mangeldorf and Helen (Wayne) Maas. Her sister Nancy Lovell, and infant brother Larry. Her nephews Danny and Jason Lovell and Cousin Mark Lents.

She is survived by her children, Tammy (Tino) Rangel, and Terry Nichols, her grandchildren, Crista, Megan (Jacob), Courtney (Carlos), Halee, Kiera, and Kyler; and Great Grandchildren Bryson, Jackie, Emely, Matthew, Aubrey, Bailey, Lilliana, and Daniel. Niece and nephew, numerous Cousins, and her Aunt Betty (Jim) Lents.

A memorial service to celebrate Linda's life will be held on February 1, 2025, from 10:00 A.M. to 12:00 P.M. at the Schmidt Family Funeral home in Adair, Iowa. A luncheon will be served afterwards at the Adair Community Center from 1 to 3 P.M. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Adair Fire Department and can be sent in care of Schmidt Family Funeral Home to P.O. Box 523 Atlantic, Iowa 50022.

The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to her friends for their compassionate care during her final days.

Linda will be dearly missed, and her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
