Linda Sue Doggett, the daughter of Charles and Jean (Hodges) Griffith was born March 1, 1952, in Audubon, Iowa and died peacefully surrounded by her family, Friday, November 3, 2023 at her home in Boone, Iowa at the age of 71 years, 8 months, and 2 days.
Linda attended Audubon Community Schools graduating with the High School Class of 1970. From the many stories that were told, she lived a carefree life for the years after high school that may have involved a little hitchhiking, music, and camping! As she settled down, she married her first husband Kerry Stevens and mothered three children: Jason Charles Stevens, Amber Dawn Stevens, and Tyler Joe Stevens. While living in Carroll, IA she worked for General Electric as well as a local newspaper as a typesetter. The family moved to Coon Rapids to run a restaurant and lounge called Kountry Korner for a time, bounced between Coon Rapids, Audubon, and Carroll, before ultimately moving to Boone, IA in the summer of 1985. While living in Boone she worked for the Iowa High School Athletic Association (IHSAA) as a typesetter. Part of that job she enjoyed most was helping with the annual State Wrestling tournaments. Linda and Kerry divorced in 1998 but she continued to live in Boone, IA with her sister, Lorayne. It was during this time that Linda met her future husband, Dennis Doggett. Somewhere around 2002 they sold their house in Runnells, IA to go full time RVing, traveling around the USA doing concessions at many events. Most notable are events like Indian Powwows, Bluegrass Festivals, Country Music Festivals, as well as local annual events. During this time is when Linda and Dennis mastered their ability to make the best Indian Fry bread tacos. After a few years of adventure, they really missed having a home to host family, so they moved to Des Moines where Linda went back to work at American Republic Insurance. Dennis went to work for Sears in their call center to sell tires. After a few years in the big city, Linda and Dennis decided they wanted to move back to Boone where they have lived ever since. They later married on September 22, 2007. Linda and Dennis very much enjoyed the outdoors, camping in the RV and listening/playing lots of bluegrass music. They also enjoyed the outdoor cooking that came with RVing. On many occasions they would invite the family out for food and music while camping. They were blessed with 16 years of marriage, and 24 total years of life together. Linda always enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandkids. They have always had a special place in her heart, and each one of them had their own special relationship with her. They truly meant the world to her.
