Linn Marvin Meaike, the son of Willard LaVerne and Eleanor Wanninger Meaike, was born July 13, 1946, at his parents home in Audubon County near Ross. Iowa and died March 24, 2011, at The Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska at the age of 64 years, 8 months, and 11 days.
Linn was baptized as an infant and confirmed at St. Johns Lutheran Church in Audubon. He attended Bunker Hill rural school and grade school in Gray, Iowa. Later he attended the Audubon Community Schools.
Linn was employed at the Audubon Produce for several years. On August 10, 1965, he enlisted in the United States Army. During his tour of duty he served in Okinawa, Japan. He was honorably discharged on July 24, 1967, into the Army Reserves with a final discharge on August 9, 1971. He returned to Audubon and was employed as an assistant at Davis Plumbing and Heating for many years. Later he worked as a tender for Schmidt Masonry for several years. Since then he has worked at Audubon Foods until he retired in 2011.
Linn was a member of St. Johns Lutheran Church in Audubon Iowa. He was an avid All Star Wrestling fan and enjoyed playing cards when he was younger with his grandparents and uncles. Linn was a quiet person and enjoyed the quiet solitude of his home.
Linn was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers an infant brother Willard LaVerne Meaike and Lloyd Meaike; his great nephews Phalin Harleman, Carter Meaikeand his great nieces Emily Meaike and Allison Meaike.
Survivors include his brothers and sisters Linda and husband Jerry Petersen of Audubon, Iowa, Larry Meaike of Storres, Connecticut, Laura and husband Bill Fancher of Audubon, Louise and husband Bill Tarwater of Guin, Alabama, LaVonne and husband Jim Campbell and Lenord and wife Jeanne Meaike all of Audubon, Lonnie and wife Kim Meaike of Manilla, Iowa, Lyle and wife Traci Meaike of Beemer, Nebraska, and Lance and wife Laurie Meaike of Audubon; his sister-in-law Penny and husband Randy LaFoy of Audubon; His nephews Tyler Meaike, Clint Petersen, Tarron Meaike, Jason Campbell, Jarrett Meaike, Jesse Meaike, Dusty Meaike, Josh Meaike, Scott Toepfer, Ryan Petersen, James Meaike, Joseph Meaike, Shawn Meaike and Matt Meaike, his nieces Anita Baker, Billie Sue Clark, Megan Bonney, Chelsea Denny, Tiffany Meaike, Ashley Hartl, Amanda Harleman, Alicia Meaike, Jordan Meaike, and JoAnna Meaike; numerous great nieces and great nephews; other relatives and many friends.
Cemetery:
Interment will be in the Maple Grove Cemetery in Audubon.
Visitation:
The family will meet with friends on Saturday evening at 6:00 P.M. at the Kessler Funeral Home in Audubon, Iowa.
Service:
Funeral services will be conducted by Pastor Bradley Ketcham on Sunday, March 27, 2011, at 2:00 P.M. at St. Johns Lutheran Church in Audubon, Iowa.
