Lloyd Young

February 26, 1938 — March 8, 2009

Lloyd Young, the son of Roy E. and Ellen Jones Young, was born February 26, 1938, at his parents home near Brayton, Iowa and died March 8, 2009, at the Exira Care Center at the age of 71 years and 12 days.
Lloyd attended rural school in Oakfield then attended High School in Exira. He worked with his father at Brayton Cement Works where they made well tiles. In 1958 he enlisted in the United States Army. During his tour of duty he served in Germany. He was honorably discharged in 1961. He returned to Brayton and was employed at Allied Engineering in Atlantic, Iowa constructing buildings for several years. He then worked various jobs until he moved to Griswold, Iowa. HE was employed as a custodian at the local post office and also a custodian at the local nursing home until he retired. He lived in Kent, Iowa where he did odd jobs until he moved back to Brayton where he lived with his brother Gene and sister Edna. Lloyd moved to the Exira Care Center on February 11, 2009.
Lloyd enjoyed gardening raising all types of vegetables, fishing and enjoyed bird watching.
Preceding him in death in addition to his parents are his brothers and sisters: Charles Young, Robert Young, Roy W. Young, Glen Young, Francis and wife Alice Young, Ronald (Andy) Young, Martha and husband Joe Burns and Mary Young; his brother-in-law: Harley Crawley.
Survivors include his brother and sister: Gene Young and Edna Crawley both of Brayton, Iowa; his sister-in-law: Jeanette Young of Bondurant, Iowa; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Cemetery:
Following cremation there will be a private inurnment at a later date.

Service:
There will be a gathering to celebrate Lloyds life on Wednesday, March 11, 2009, at 10:00 A.M. at the Kessler Funeral Home in Exira, Iowa. Pastor Leon Hodges will conduct a short prayer service during the gathering.
