Lois Elaine (Ticknor) Arnold was born August 22, 1926, in Adair County, Iowa, the daughter of Charles Edgar and Grace Laura (Fitzgerald) Ticknor and passed away Saturday, December 12, 2015, at the Kavanagh House in Des Moines, Iowa.
She grew up on a farm south of Casey, Iowa, where she lived until she was nine. She attended Walnut #4 country school near Casey. Her family moved to a farm by the Middle Raccoon River by Panora, Iowa, in 1936. Lois attended the Franklin Country School near Panora and graduated from the Panora High School.
On May 18, 1947, Lois was married to Frank Junior Arnold at the Morrisburg Church southeast of Panora. The couple lived on farms southeast of Adair, and southeast of Anita. They also lived in Brea, DeWitt, Belle Plaine and Strawberry Point, IA, where they owned and operated the Coast to Coast Store. After retirement they moved to Florida. Lois returned to Iowa in September of 2011. She moved from Redfield to Adel and was currently living in Adel, IA.
Lois was a lifelong Methodist. She was a baptized member of the Casey United Methodist Church and was an active member of other Methodist Churches in the towns she called home.
She enjoyed flower and vegetable gardening, cooking, baking pies and cakes, and visiting with friends and family over the phone.
Lois was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Frank Arnold; her daughter, Lois Jean Bahen; her grandson, Christopher Bahen; and her brothers and sisters, Velma Carstens, Vivian Avey, Veryl Ticknor, Glen Ticknor, Wayne Ticknor and Allen Ticknor.
She is survived by her son, Roger Arnold of Adel, IA; her son-in-law, James Bahen of Taylor Ridge, IL; her grandchildren, Denise Bahen, Sean (Lori) Bahen, Daniel Bahen and Patrick Bahen; her great-grandchildren, Jordan, Breanna and Emma; her brother, Ernest Ticknor; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, December 17, 2015, at the United Methodist Church in Casey, Iowa.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.
Burial will be in the Oakwood Cemetery in Casey, Iowa.
