Lois Elaine Kendle

Lois Elaine Kendle, the daughter of Scott and Retta Elwood Hockenberry, was born September 3, 1915, at her parents home in rural Exira, Iowa and died September 21, 2009, at the Manning Regional Healthcare Center in Manning, Iowa at the age of 94 years and 18 days.
Lois was baptized at the Exira Christian Church in Exira. She attended rural schools near Exira and the Exira High School. Lois helped clean houses and was employed at the Audubon County Home near Audubon, Iowa.
On December 15, 1941, she was united in marriage to John V. Kendle in Maryville, Missouri. Two sons Larry and Paul were born to this union. Lois was a homemaker and helped John farm. They lived and operated a farm east of Gray, Iowa until 1951, then moved to another farm southeast of Gray. They lived on the farm until they moved to Carroll, Iowa in 1980, then retired from farming in 1985. Lois helped clean houses in Carroll, did volunteer work and was very active in the Gray United Methodist Church. They enjoyed their home in Carroll and in March of 2008 moved to the Manning Plaza in Manning, Iowa. John died May 21, 2008.
Lois was an active member of the Gray United Methodist Church and a member of the Gray United Methodist Women.
Preceding her in death in addition to her husband John V. Kendle; were her parents; her infant brother Raymond Hockenberry and brother Donald Scott and wife Cora Maxine Hockenberry.
Survivors include her children: Larry and wife Denise Kendle of Gray, IA; Paul and wife Colleen Kendle of Suamico, WI; her grandchildren: Wayne and wife Kathy Kendle of Grand Forks, MN; Bruce and wife Michelle Kendle of Rockwall, TX; Karen and husband Jack Petersen of Kingsland, GA; Rhonda and husband Danny Ciamaichelo of Martinez, GA; Carrie and husband Corby Miller of Waunakee, WI; Adam and wife Katie Kendle of LaCrosse, WI; 13 great grandchildren; her brothers: Marvin and wife Darlene Hockenberry of Anita, IA; Lloyd and wife Mary Hockenberry of Guthrie Center, IA; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
The family would like to thank the Hospice Team and the staff at the Manning Regional Healthcare Center for their excellent care and compassion.

Cemetery:
Interment will be in the Exira Cemetery at 1:30 P.M.

Visitation:
The family will meet friends Wednesday evening at 6:00 at the Kessler Funeral Home in Audubon.

Service:
Funeral services will be conducted by Pastor Kathy Cramer on Thursday, September 24, 2009 at 10:30 A.M. at the Gray United Methodist Church in Gray, IA.
