Lois Peterson, 86, of Atlantic, Iowa, passed away Thursday, May 22, 2008, at the University of Nebraska Medical Center, in Omaha, Nebraska.

Eldamae Lois Peterson was born at her parent's home on December 22, 1921, the daughter of Andrew T. and Hannah (Dettmer) Erickson.
Lois attended Brighton #1 Country School. She lived at home until her marriage to Walter G. Peterson at the family farm on May 28, 1945. Lois and Walter built a home at 901 Plum in 1945 and had then built another home in 1955 at 905 Plum. She had resided at Atlantic Nursing and Rehab since 2006.

She worked at a Canning Factory, Venition Blind Company, and cleaned houses in Atlantic.
Lois attended the United Church of Christ in Atlantic.

She liked to refinish old furniture. Lois enjoyed listening to country music, especially Willie Nelson. She and Walter enjoyed traveling and the mountains. Their travels took them on bus trip tours, a flight to Hawaii, and numerous other places. Lois was always good to her nieces and enjoyed the time she spent with them.

Lois is survived by her nieces, Marlis Bornholdt and her husband, Donald, Verdell Templeman and her husband, Jerry, and LaDonna Walker and her husband, Dave.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Andrew and Hannah Erickson; her husband, Walter G. Peterson; and her sister, Violet Pelzer and her husband, Maurice.

Funeral services will be 11:30 a.m., Saturday, May 24, 2008, in the chapel at Hockenberry Family Care in Atlantic, with the Reverend Nancy Jensen of the United Church of Christ officiating.

Burial will be in the Atlantic Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 12:00 to 8:00 p.m., Friday, May 23, 2008, at Hockenberry Family Care, with the family present to greet friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
