Lorena Eleanora Anna Rudolph

Lorena Eleanora Anna Rudolph, the daughter of Gustav and Marie Biostock Borkowski, was born August 20, 1914, at her parents home in rural Audubon County near Gray, Iowa and died October 14, 2008, at the Audubon County Memorial Hospital in Audubon, Iowa at the age of 94 years, 1 month and 24 days.
Lorena was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church northwest of Audubon, Iowa. She attended rural school near Gray, Iowa, then helped at home and worked for other people.
On November 21, 1936, she was united in marriage to Hilmer Rudolph. Nine children were born to this union. They worked for other farmers in Audubon and Guthrie Counties, then moved to a farm in Sharon Township. Later they purchased the farm in the mid-60s. Lorena helped Hilmer farm and enjoyed raising both chickens and geese and always having a vegetable garden. She helped milk the cows and do the chores. They operated the farm until they retired and moved into Audubon in 1978. Hilmer died March 25, 1984. Lorena continued to live in, maintain and enjoy her home.
Lorena was a member of Our Saviours Lutheran Church in Audubon. She was a good cook with her specialties being chocolate and tapioca pudding and clumper soup.
Preceding her in death in addition to her husband were her grandchildren: Jimmy Rudolph, Michael Rudolph, Mark Soll, Melissa Deist, Kent Hinners, and Michael Dunlop; her great-grandchildren: Derrick Greve and Katarina Hinners; her parents; her brothers: Victor Borkowski and Lester Borkowski; her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Edith and Axel Jensen, George and Veda Rudolph; Henry and Oletta Rudolph; Ted and Velma Rudolph; Emmert and Freda Rudolph; and Walter Borkowski.
Survivors include her children: Desmond and Kay Rudolph; Darlene and Bob Soll, all of Audubon; Doris Flathers of Kimballton, IA; Diana Deist of Audubon; Dixie and Curtis Petersen of Exira, IA; Della and Larry Hinners of Manning, IA; Delmar Rudolph of Audubon; Dorothy and Bill Snyder of Woodbine, IA; and Delrene Greve of Audubon; 38 grandchildren; 67 great-grandchildren: 10 great-great-grandchildren; her sister Hilda Borkowski of Audubon; her sister-in-law Thelma Borkowski of Audubon; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Cemetery:
Interment will be in the Hamlin Lutheran Cemetery.

Visitation:
The family will meet friends Friday evening at 7:00 at Kessler Funeral Home in Audubon.

Service:
Funeral services will be conducted by Pastor Christopher Martin on Saturday, October 18, 2008 at 10:30 A.M. at Our Saviours Lutheran Church in Audubon.
