Gladys Louetta Richie was born December 23, 1924, in Villisca, Iowa, the daughter of Ernest A. and W. Edna (Davis) Richie and passed away Friday, July 27, 2012, at the Osceola Community Hospital in Sibley, Iowa.
She attended the Nodaway Consolidated School, graduating in 1942. On October 7, 1942, Louetta married Russell D. Heaton in Rockport, Missouri. The couple lived near Nodaway, Anita, Exira and Orange City before settling back in Anita in 1960. She worked with Russell at their business, Anita Printing, while maintaining their home and raising their sons, Edward and Randall
Louetta was a member of the Nodaway United Methodist Church, transferring membership to the Anita United Methodist Church in 1965. She was also a volunteer at the Colonial Manor Nursing Home.
Louetta enjoyed camping and fishing in South Dakota, ballroom dancing, picking raspberries to make pies and shopping for clothes and shoes. She loved spending time at the farm with her grandchildren where they would camp, fish and ride around in the rusty wagon. She spent her last four years in Sibley, Iowa, at Heartwood Heights where she enjoyed her ladies group and their weekly suppers together.
Surviving Louetta are her sons, Edward (Linda) Heaton of Urbandale, Iowa, and Randy (Joyce) Heaton of Sibley, Iowa; her grandchildren, Sandra (Mark) Cullen, Sara (Shawn) Maas, Michelle (Brian) Renken, Brooke (Christina) Heaton, April (Jonathan) Thompson and Spenser Heaton; her sister, Marge (Mike) Haley of Exira; six great-grandchildren, Nick and Morgan Cullen, Cale Maas, Carson and Miah Renken and Miles Thompson; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held Monday, July 30, 2012, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Hockenberry Funeral Home in Anita, Iowa.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 31, 2012, at 10:30 a.m., at the Anita United Methodist Church, with lunch immediately following in the church fellowship hall.
Burial will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 31, 2012, in the Prairie Rose Cemetery southwest of Corning, Iowa.
Hockenberry Funeral Home in Anita is in charge of the arrangements.
