Louis B. Robison, 97, of Atlantic, Iowa, passed away Saturday, April 18, 2009, at the Heritage House in Atlantic, Iowa.
The son of Byron W. and Florence Muriel (Bailey) Robison, he was born November 25, 1911, in Anita, Iowa. At 3 years of age his family moved to Alberta, Canada, living there from 1914 to 1918, then moved to Missouri in 1919, then back to Anita, Iowa.
Louie was married to Josephine A. Comes of Atlantic on January 31, 1939, at St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Atlantic, Iowa, of which he was a member. They lived 3 years near Wiota and then to Anita in March of 1942. Their only child, Mervin J. Robison, was born January 24, 1942, in Atlantic, Iowa.
While living on the farm at Anita, he was an active member in the Farmers Home Administration for 7 years, served on the Farmers Cooperative Elevator Board of Anita, A.S.C. Committeeman, Grant Township Rural School Board Secretary, Grant Township Trustee Clerk, and was a Farmer Farm Bureau member. He also served on the Cass County Extension Council and was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Anita where he served on the Building Board. After farming at Anita for 28 years, he and Josephine moved to Atlantic in 1970. Louie then worked at Payless Cashway until his retirement.
He served as an usher at St. Peter & Paul Catholic Church for many years. He and Josephine delivered Meals on Wheels and also served on the board. In 2000 they moved to the Heritage House. Louie had a passion for playing pool.
He is survived by his daughter-in-law, Judy Robison of Omaha, Nebraska; his grandchildren, Jeff (Jill) Robison of Omaha, Nebraska, and Jill (Steve) Pettorelli of Chicago, Illinois; his 4 great-grandchildren, Madison, Kaden and Holland Robison and Andrew Pettorelli; and his sister, Ruby Littleton of Anita, Iowa.
Preceding Louie in death were his parents; his wife, Josephine, in 2003; his son, Mervin Robison, in 2008; and his sisters, Rose Soper, Marie Huddleson and Amy Petersen.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 21, 2009, at Saints Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Atlantic, Iowa. Burial will be Saints Peter & Paul Catholic Cemetery in Atlantic.
A visitation will be held from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, April 20, 2009, at Hockenberry Family Care in Atlantic. The family will be present from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. to greet friends. A Rosary service will be held during the visitation at 6:30 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Saints Peter & Paul Catholic Church or the Heritage House Good Samaritan Fund.
