Louis William Dreher

Louis William Dreher, the son of Emil and Eda Rathkamp Dreher, was born April 10, 1921, at his parents home north of Audubon, Iowa and died January 12, 2010, at the Friendship Home in Audubon at the age of 88 years, 9 months, and 2 days.
Louis was baptized and confirmed as a Missouri Synod Lutheran. He attended rural school, Leroy # 4, south of Ross, Iowa where he finished the eighth grade. Louis then helped operate the family farm with his father and raised purebred hogs.
On January 5, 1948, he was united in marriage to Valeria Marian Stoberl in Sioux City, Iowa. One son, Ron, was born to this union. Louis continued farming with his father until 1964 when he rented the farm and operated it on his own. They purchased the farm in 1982 and continued to raise grain and purebred hogs for many years. In 1992 the Drehers received the Century Farm Award at the Iowa State Fair. Louis retired from actively farming in 2001. Louis and Valeria lived on the family farm where he was raised and lived his entire life. Valeria died August 8, 2007. Louis moved to the Friendship Home in Audubon in September of 2007.
Louis was a member of St. Johns Lutheran Church in Audubon.
Preceding him in death in addition to his wife Valeria; were his parents; his brother: Raymon Dreher; his sister: Dorothy Mathisen Hansen; his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Herman Meislahn, Sophia and husband Irvin Heckenliable; Reuben and wife Edith Stoberl; Leonard Stoberl; Stanley Mathisen; Duane Kauffman and Alvin Hansen.
Survivors include his son: Ron and wife Becky Dreher of Adair, Iowa; his grandchildren: Randy and wife Crystal Dreher of Audubon, Emily Dreher of Des Moines, Iowa, and Dan Dreher of Ankeny, Iowa; his sister: Arlene and husband Howard Gregersen of Audubon; his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Mildred Dreher of Audubon, Irene Meislahn of Gray, Iowa, Lyle and wife Mary Stoberl of Stuart, Iowa, Norbert and wife Virginia Stoberl of Manning, Iowa, and Margaret Stoberl of Audubon; many nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.

Cemetery:
Interment will be in the Maple Grove Cemetery in Audubon.

Visitation:
The family will meet with friends Thursday evening January 14, 2010 at 6:00 P.M. at the Kessler Funeral Home in Audubon, Iowa.

Service:
Funeral services will be conducted by Pastor Bradley Ketcham on Friday, January 15, 2010, at 10:30 A.M. at St. Johns Lutheran Church in Audubon.
