Lovila Ann Hansen

Lovila Ann Christensen Hansen, the daughter of Soren and Annie (Petersen) Christensen was born June 16, 1929, in Audubon, Iowa and died February 14, 2014, at the Thomas Rest Haven in Coon Rapids, Iowa at the age of 84 years, 7 months, and 28 days. Lovila was baptized and confirmed at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church in Audubon, Iowa. Lovila attended Audubon Community Schools graduating with the High School Class of 1947. On February 19th, 1949, Lovila was united in marriage to Levi S Hansen at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church in Audubon. Five children Steven, Donna, Debra, Julie, and Kathy were born to this union. Lovila and Levi were engaged in grain and livestock farming all of their life. Following her parent’s death, Lovila purchased the family farm. In 2013 she became the proud recipient of the Christensen Family Century Farm Award. Lovila enjoyed traveling, reading, making jellies and jams, canning pickles and baking the best rhubarb pie in the county. Lovila was especially proud of her grandchildren. She loved watching them play sports and was always a very vocal spectator at the games. In her later years, Lovila spent her winters in Maui, Hawaii and loved watching the whales and the beautiful surroundings the island had to offer. Lovila enjoyed playing cards, dining out and just visiting with the many friends she was blessed to have over the years. Lovila was preceded in death by her husband Levi; her parents Soren and Annie; and her son-in-law Rodney Bills. Survivors include her five children; Steven D Hansen of Audubon, IA; Donna J Bills and friend Rick Tibben of Sunrise Beach, MO; Debra A and husband Don Laster of West Des Moines, IA; Julie A and husband Roger Bylund of Audubon, IA; and Kathy A Hansen of Audubon, IA; her grandchildren: Sam and wife Amy Hansen of Manning, IA; Jason Bills and Tyler Bills of Atlantic, IA; Jeremy and wife Amy Tibben of Stanton, IA; Tami Tibben of Omaha, NE; Jennifer and wife Lindsey Smith, Jessica Laster, Levi Laster and Liz Huebsch all of West Des Moines, IA; Heather and husband Andy Griffith, Chris and wife Brandi Bylund, Michael Bylund and Susie Bylund all of Audubon, IA; twelve great-grandchildren; her sister-in-law Linda Hansen of Audubon; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Cemetery:
Inurnment will be in the Maple Grove Cemetery in Audubon, Iowa.

Service:
Celebration of Life Memorial Services will be held Saturday, June 28, 2014 at 10:30 A.M. at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church in Audubon, Iowa.

Visitation:
The family will meet friends Saturday morning at 9:30 A.M. until the time of the service at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church.
