Lucile G. Maas, 94, of Casey, Iowa, passed away Monday, April 2, 2007, at the Community Care Center in Stuart, Iowa.

Lucile Glendora Floyd was born on October, 23, 1912, in Thompson Township, Guthrie County, Iowa, the daughter of Clarence Harrison and Minnie (Petri) Floyd.

She graduated from Casey High School in 1930, after which she attended Normal Training in Shenandoah where she received her teaching certificate. She taught school in two rural Casey schools.

On April 14, 1934, she married Truman E. Maas. To this union were born two children, Jeanette and Gene.

Lucile was a homemaker in her rural Casey home until 1971, when she and Truman moved to Casey. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Casey. She was also active in the Rebekah Lodge, Casey Square Dance Club, Mary Circle and several other local organizations. Lucile spent her later years as a resident of the Community Care Center in Stuart. She enjoyed playing cards, sewing, and spending time with her family.

Lucile is survived by her daughter, Jeanette Bassett of Sun Lakes, Arizona; son, Gene Maas and his wife, Jennine of Casey, Iowa; two grandchildren, Denise Bassett-Luchman and her husband, Kirk and Kevin Maas and his wife, Darci; step-grandsons, Nicholas Chance and his wife, Kristi and Kyle Chance and his wife, Tammy; two great-grandchildren, Margaret Ann and Michael Maas; four step great-grandchildren, Mallory, Nathaniel, Gracie and Garbriel; sister, Wyona Williams and her husband, Donald; and several nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Truman; son-in-law, Larry Bassett; aunt, Anna Petri; and uncle, George Petri.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., Friday, April 6, 2007, at the United Methodist Church in Casey, Iowa.

Burial will be in the Dalmanutha Cemetery, near Casey, Iowa.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m., with the family present to greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m., at the church on Thursday, April 5, 2007.

Hockenberry Funeral Home in Casey is in charge of the arrangements.
