Lucille Simser

August 24, 1920 — January 27, 2011

Ann Lucille Kitelinger Simser was born August 24, 1920, to George Sebastian and Anna T. (Thielen) Wieland in Brayton, Iowa, and passed away Thursday, January 27, 2011, at Atlantic Nursing and Rehab in Atlantic, Iowa.

Lucille lived on the family farm near Brayton until 1967 when she moved to Atlantic. She graduated from Exira High School in 1936.

She married Kenneth Kitelinger in 1940 in Exira, Iowa. Kenneth passed away in 1965. Then in 1969, Lucille married Al Simser in the Buck Creek Methodist Church. Al passed away in 1988.

Lucille taught country school in Benton Township and worked for Warren Oil which was located at the intersection of Interstate 80 and Highway 71.

She was a member of Saints Peter & Paul Catholic Church and the Alter Society there as well as being a member of the Hospital Auxiliary, the Does and the Birthday Club. One of her favorite past times was playing bingo.

Preceding her in death were her parents; both husbands; a brother, Edward and his wife, Evelyn Wieland; a sister, Evelyn and her husband, Marvin Kline; and her sons-in-law, Richard Harter and Doug Nollette.

Surviving Lucille are her children, Beverly Harter of Plattsmouth, NE, Karen Nollette of O'Neill, NE and Royce (Karen) Kitelinger of Elk Horn, IA; her grandchildren, Kirby (Stephanie) Kitelinger of Exira, IA, Kyle (Betsy) Kitelinger of Exira, IA, Kristin (Tony) Gramazio of Omaha, NE, Lisa (David) Citta of North Platte, NE and Lynn (Scott Tittsworth) Harter of Athens, Ohio; great-grandchildren, Carter Kitelinger, Hudson Kitelinger, Sophie Kitelinger, Andrew Kitelinger, Michael Sonntag and Meaghan Sonntag all of Exira, IA, Devon Gramazio and Lucy Gramazio both of Omaha, NE and Emma Harter of Athens, OH; and her special friend, Carolyn Brockman.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, January 31, 2011, at Saints Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Atlantic, IA. Burial will be at 1:00 p.m. in the Evergreen Cemetery in Anita, Iowa.

Visitation, Rosary and Does Service will be Sunday, January 30th from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. with the Does Service at 5:45 and the Rosary at 6:00.
