Lyle Larsen

Lyle Lawrence Larsen, 91, of Atlantic, Iowa, died Sunday, March 12, 2017, at the Cass County Memorial Hospital in Atlantic, Iowa.

Lyle was born February 3, 1926, in Hutchinson, Minnesota, to Lawrence Chris and Blanche Pauline (Carter) Larsen. He grew up in the Exira/Audubon area and graduated from the Audubon High School. He also attended business school in Omaha, Nebraska.

On April 16, 1950, Lyle married Joan Cavanaugh at the Methodist Church in Audubon, Iowa. They farmed in the Exira area and in 1963, they moved to Atlantic where he worked as a bookkeeper for the Atlantic Bottling Company.

He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church. Lyle enjoyed spending time with his family, playing cards, quilting, sewing little dresses for Africa. He also liked gardening, raising day lilies, reading, doing puzzles, playing pool and traveling.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Lucille; and two brothers, Edwin and Donald.

Lyle is survived by his wife, Joan Larsen of Atlantic, IA; his children, Virlee (Robin) Reed of Clear Lake, MN, Lynn (Sue) Larsen of Anita, IA and Valonda (Tim) Burke of Kansas City, MO; grandchildren, Chris (LeAnn) Reed, Angeline (David) Abts, Michael Burke, Lucas Larsen, Stephen Burke and Christopher Burke; great-grandchildren, Riley, Andrew and Ashley Reed; a sister, Barba Jean Duvall of Audubon, IA; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation with family will be from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m., Friday, March 17, 2017, at Hockenberry Family Care in Atlantic, Iowa.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 18, 2017, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Atlantic, Iowa.

Burial will be in the Hamlin Cemetery in Hamlin, IA.

Memorials may be directed to St. Paul's Lutheran Church.
