Marcella Edith Hall, 94, was born December 4, 1915, at Hall Hill Farm 3 miles east of Griswold, Iowa. She was the seventh and youngest child of David Reuben and Laura (Shultz) Hall. She passed away Sunday, September 5, 2010, at The Lakeside Village in Panora, where she had resided for two months.
She grew up on the family farm, attended country school and later Griswold High School where she graduated in 1933. On June 1, 1939, Marcella was united in marriage to Delmar William Reha of Adair. She called Adair home for the next 71 years, living for 64 years in the same house that she and Delmar had built upon his return from the war in 1946.
Marcella was an active member of the Adair community. She was involved with the Federated Woman's Club, Civic League and the American Legion Auxiliary. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Adair for nearly 70 years where she was a member of the Westminster Auxiliary, serving many offices. In addition, she was a Cub Scout den leader, a Girl Scout Leader, active in the Adair-Casey Band Parents and enjoyed watching her children and grandchildren in their extracurricular activities.
Marcella was an accomplished seamstress and a wonderful cook. Mom was a kind, gentle parent and friend, one of those rare individuals who never uttered an unkind word to anyone.
Marcella was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Delmar in 1983; brothers, John, Lowell and Malcom Hall; and her sisters, Frances Reynolds, Marian Forsythe and Madelene Balcom.
She is survived by her children, Bill (Gloria) Reha of Washington, IA, Brenda (Dwight) Dinkla of Panora, IA, and John (Claudia) Reha of Littleton, CO; her grandchildren, Sarah (Bradley Coyle) of Albuquerque, NM, Elisabeth (Adam) Howe of Belmont, MA, Hannah Reha of Kalona, IA, Alex (Megan) Dinkla of Guthrie Center, IA, Jill Dinkla and friend, Bryan Borrall of Ankeny, IA, Jordan (Cassidy) Dinkla of Des Moines, IA, Dylan Dinkla of Indianola, IA, Amy (Adam) Fisher of Wellington, CO, and David Reha of Stuart, IA; her great-grandchildren, Brayden, Carsen and Landen Dinkla of Guthrie Center, IA, Caleb and Shawn Fisher of Wellington, CO, Owen, Carter and Natalie Dinkla of Des Moines, IA, and Thomas Howe of Belmont, MA; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 9, 2010, from 2:00 to 6:30 p.m. with family present from 4:30 - 6:30 p.m., at Hockenberry Family Care in Adair.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 10, 2010, at 10:30 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church in Adair, followed immediately by a lunch at the Adair Community Centre.
A private burial of cremated remains will be held at a later date.
