Marcia Schildberg

Marcia Ann Schildberg, 82, of Atlantic, Iowa, passed away Thursday, July 7, 2016, at the Overland Park Regional Medical Center in Overland Park, Kansas.

Marcia was born April 16, 1934, in Fargo, North Dakota, to Cyril H. and Dorothy (Stoudt) Arnold. She grew up in the Fargo area. Marcia attended and graduated from the University of Missouri in Columbia, Missouri, with a BA in education. While attending the University of Missouri, she was a member of Gamma Phi Beta.

Marcia lived in various cities and has been a resident of the Atlantic area since the early 1960s. She worked with Dave Highfill and State Farm for over eighteen years.

She was a member of the First United Presbyterian Church in Atlantic where she had been a deacon and an elder. Marcia was also a past president of the Atlantic Jr. Federated, Cass County Republican Women and the Chapter MU PEO Sisterhood. She had also served on the board of several charities, Cass County Memorial Hospital, and the library. Marcia also served on the jury commission and election board for many years as well as volunteering for the hospital auxiliary, the Red Cross, hospice and home health care where she also assisted as a driver.

Marcia enjoyed playing bridge, reading, golf, needle point, traveling the world and she especially liked to stop at every historical marker while traveling in the United States with her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Cy and Dorothy Arnold.

Marcia is survived by her children, Kitty (Mick) Sherer of Greenfield, IA, Kris Wise and her special friend, Dick Westbrook of Glenwood, IA, Mark (Joyce) Schildberg of Greenfield, IA, Beth (Mark) Marcellus of Hudson, IA and Susie (Pat) Starr of Overland Park, KS; grandchildren, Jeremy Reinier, Laura Helmers, Rebecca Longobardi, Seth Wise, Christopher Wise, Sara Wise, David Schildberg, Jennifer Schildberg, Kelley Schildberg, Emily Schildberg, Michael Marcellus, Aaron Marcellus, Steven Starr, Patrick Starr and Megan Starr; twelve great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; a brother, Tom (Barbara) Arnold of Hilton Head, SC; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation with family will be from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 12, 2016, at Hockenberry Family Care in Atlantic, Iowa.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, July 13, 2016, at First United Presbyterian Church in Atlantic, Iowa.

Burial will be in the Atlantic Cemetery in Atlantic, IA.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First Presbyterian Church of Atlantic, Atlantic Children's Library, the CCMH Foundation or the PEO Sisterhood.
