Margaret Elsberry

Margaret "Maggie" Elsberry, 69, of Atlantic, Iowa, passed away Monday, July 6, 2015, at the University Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska.

Maggie was born November 27, 1945, in Atlantic, Iowa, to Chester and Marjorie (Winger) Laursen. She grew up in Atlantic, Wiota, Des Moines, Perry and Audubon, Iowa, and graduated from Audubon High School in 1964. She was married to Merle Elsberry on April 11, 1965, in Audubon, IA. She had lived in Ames, Ankeny, Audubon, Albert City and since 1981 had been a resident of Atlantic. Maggie was the office manager for Merle's insurance office as well as working for Wolff's Jewelry in Atlantic, IA.

She loved her grandkids. She also liked to read, go camping, fishing and shopping. Maggie also had a love for animals.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Chester and Marjorie Laursen; sister and brother-in-law, Janice and Loren Hartwig; and a brother-in-law, Gerald Kallesen.

Maggie is survived by her husband, Merle of Atlantic, IA; children, Margie (Todd) Young and their children, Emma and Cole of Atlantic, IA, Michael Elsberry of Atlantic, IA, and Marie (Jeff) Nelson and their children, Ansleigh, William, Mia, Hannah and Joshua of Elk Horn, IA; sister-in-law, Barbara Kallesen; brothers and sisters-in-law, Wayne and Eleanor Elsberry, Larry and Marlene Schwab and Bud and Mary Korver; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Visitation will be from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 8, 2015, at Hockenberry Family Care in Atlantic, Iowa.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, July 9, 2015, at Zion Lutheran Church, Atlantic, Iowa, with burial in the Atlantic Cemetery in Atlantic, Iowa.

Memorials are preferred to Zion Lutheran Church in Atlantic, Iowa, or the Atlantic Lions Club.
