Margery M. Miller, the daughter of Louis and Lepha (Aldrit) Miller, was born October 3, 1925, at her parent’s home in Aberdeen, South Dakota and died August 2, 2013, in Overland Park, Kansas at the age of 87 years, 9 months, and 29 days. As a small child the family moved to Audubon, Iowa. Margery was baptized and confirmed at the Presbyterian Church in Audubon. She attended Audubon Community Schools graduating with the High School Class of 1943 and then was employed at various jobs. On October 25, 1947, she was united in marriage to Jacob C. Miller, Sr. in Omaha, Nebraska. Three children were born to this union. In the early years Margery was a home maker raising the children and caring for their home. Marge then became a successful business person and took great pride in her professional career. She began working in the Audubon County Auditor’s office in 1964. She became the deputy auditor a short time later and worked in that capacity until she made a run for the office of Audubon County Treasurer. After a narrow defeat, Marge became the first female Territory Sales Manager for Koch Brothers of Des Moines, Iowa in 1974. She traveled western Iowa calling on courthouses providing binding services for legal documents and office supplies. Jacob died March 29, 1985. Marge continued to work for Koch Brothers retiring in 1995 and moved to Weslaco, Texas. During retirement she traveled with her “friend” Bill to many beautiful parts of our country and Canada. She was diagnosed with dementia in 2007 and moved to Overland Park, Kansas. Margery was preceded in death by her husband Jake Miller; and her parents Lepha Miller in 1973 and Louie Miller in 1982. A side note from the children: growing up in Audubon, we had two Grandma Millers. One lived near highway 71 and on lived on one of the highest hill in Audubon. Therefore, they were fondly known to us as “Grandma on the Hill” and “Grandma on the Highway”!! Survivors include her three children: Barbara Ione and husband Barry Ainsworth of Florida and their children Kate Alex and Beth, Jacob Clayton and wife Karen Miller of Overland Park, Kansas and their children Emilie and Brenden, and Sue Ellen and husband Tony Shores of Platte Woods, Missouri and their children Nathan and Nik. Marge also has three beautiful great grandchildren; her brother Alfred “Corky” and wife Marcia Miller, nieces, nephews other relatives and many friends.
