Marian E. Carstens, 97, of Casey, Iowa, passed away Saturday, February 24, 2007, at The New Homestead in Guthrie Center, Iowa
Marian E. Carstens was born on January 11, 1910, in Casey, Iowa, the daughter of Warren E. and Grace (Thompsen) Cline. She attended school and graduated from Casey High School.
On October 19, 1928, she was married to Fred H. Carstens. They lived on farms north of Casey until they retired and moved to Casey. She has been a resident of the New Homestead in Guthrie Center for several years.
Marian was a member of the Casey United Methodist Church. She was active teaching Sunday School, Bible School and belonged to the Women's Circle. She was a volunteer for the community museum and the cemetery association. Marian worked for many years at the Mary's Café in Casey.
Marian is survived by son, Darrel and his wife, Loretta of Casey, Iowa; 3 daughters, Frances Wolfe of Overland Park, Kansas, Kathryn Tefft and her husband, Howard of Springdale, Arkansas, and Carol Sorensen and her husband, Aleen of Marietta, Georgia; 8 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Fred in 1996; son, Dwain; 3 grandchildren; and a son-in-law.
Graveside services will be 11:00 a.m., Monday, March 5, 2007, at the Oakwood Cemetery in Casey, Iowa. A visitation will be held prior to the services beginning at 9:30 a.m., at the Casey United Methodist Church.
Hockenberry Funeral Home in Casey is in charge of the arrangements.
