Marian Janice Kopf

Marian Janice Kopf, the daughter of Fred and Alta (Runyan) Schuler, was born December 7, 1923, at her parents’ home in Buena Vista County near Marathon, Iowa and died April 22, 2013, at the Exira Care Center in Exira, Iowa at the age of 89 years, 4 months, and 15 days. Marian was baptized and confirmed in the Methodist Church. She attended Marathon Community Schools graduating with the High School Class of 1941. Following graduation Marian moved to Waterloo, Iowa and was employed as a clerk at a pharmacy for a short time. In 1943, she began working at the John Deere Tractor Works in Waterloo. In March of 1948, she was united in marriage to J. Russell Kopf in Waterloo, Iowa. Two children Tom and Deb were born to this union. Marian and Russell lived their entire married life in Waterloo. In February of 1969 Russell died. Marian continued to work at John Deere as a general foreman secretary until she retired in 1983. She enjoyed her home in Waterloo then in February of 2010 she moved to the Exira Care Center in Exira, Iowa to be closer to her daughter. Marian had been a member of the Kimball Avenue United Methodist Church in Waterloo for over 50 years. Marian was preceded in death by her husband J. Russell Kopf.; her grandchildren Ryan Nelson and Meghan Nelson; her parents; her brothers Lee Schuler, Clifford Schuler, Kenny Schuler, Bill Schuler, and Dick Schuler; and her sisters Jeane Graham, Barbara Grice, and Sally Ferguson. Survivors include her children Tom and wife Ann Kopf of Hutchinson, Minnesota, and Deb and husband Steve Nelson of Exira, Iowa; her grandchildren Betsy and husband Jason Movrich of Ramsey, Minnesota, Adam Kopf of Hutchinson, Minnesota, Morgan Nelson of Tucson, Arizona, Steven and wife Lisa Nelson of Kearney, Missouri, and Lisa Nelson of Salt Lake City, Utah; her sisters Marge Bussey of Laurens Iowa and Ruth Ransom, of Waterloo, Iowa; her sister-in-law Charlotte Schuler of Waterloo, Iowa; her brother-in-law Marvin Ferguson of Laurens, Iowa; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Cemetery:
Interment will be in the Waterloo Memorial Park Cemetery in Waterloo, Iowa.

Service:
Funeral services will be conducted by Pastor Karen Larson on Friday, April 26, 2013, at 11:00 A.M. at the Katherine Graham Pahl Memorial Chapel in the Waterloo Memorial Park Cemetery in Waterloo, Iowa.

Visitation:
The family will meet with friends from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the service at the Katherine Graham Pahl Memorial Chapel in Waterloo, Iowa.
