Marian Krumm

Marian Hope Krumm, 94, of Adair, Iowa, passed away at the Community Care Center in Stuart, Iowa.


Marian was born in Adair, Iowa, February 21, 1916, the daughter of Clyde and Olive (Freeze) Correll. Marian attended school in Adair and graduated from Adair High school in 1933. After high school she attended business school at the American Institute of Business (AIB) in Des Moines and graduated from there in 1935. She was united in marriage to LeRoy Krumm at the Little Brown Church in the Vale at Nashua, Iowa, on August 31, 1935. Marian and LeRoy's marriage was blessed with five children John, Lee, Gene, and twins Mary Ann and Paul.


Marian was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Adair all her married life and was an active church member. She was also a member of the Women's Federated Club-Civic League. Marion was employed for a number of years as the secretary for the Adair/Casey High School. She later worked as a secretary for Adair Pelgas, retiring from there.


Marian loved and was loved by her family and friends. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, crafts, birds, trees, flowers and reading. Marian was also a noted Adair historian. She loved Adair and the Adair community.


Marian is survived by her children: Lee (Laurie) Krumm of Pahrump, Nevada, Gene (Jane) Krumm of Earlham, Iowa, Mary Ann (Steve) Bates of Council Bluffs, Iowa, and Paul (Sanya) Krumm of Boulder City, Nevada; seventeen grandchildren and twenty-eight great grandchildren.

Marian was preceded in death by her husband, LeRoy; her son, John and his wife Janice; her twin brother, Merlen Correll; infant twin granddaughters, Christina and Elisabeth Bates; and her parents, Clyde and Olive.


Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, August 5, 2010, at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Adair, Iowa.

Visitation with family will be Wednesday, August 4, 2010, from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. at Hockenberry Funeral Home in Adair. Burial will be in the Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery, Adair.
