Marilyn Young

Marilyn Ruth Bowman was born April 22, 1939, the daughter of Robert Farrel and Juanita Maxine (Martin) Bowman in Shenandoah, Iowa, and passed away August 30, 2012, at the Avoca Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

She grew up in the Shenandoah and Hamburg area and attended school in Farragut, Iowa.

On July 1, 1960, she married Darwin Keith Young in Stanton, Iowa.

In her spare time, Marilyn enjoyed playing pool, dancing and writing poetry.

Marilyn was preceded in death by her husband, Darwin Young; her parents, Farrel and Juanita Bowman; and her friend, Willis Fern.

She is survived by her children, Gary Dennis Young of Avoca, Frank (Jody) Young of Avoca, Michelle Young of Bastrop, Texas, Michael (Jill) Young of Denver, Colorado; her grandchildren, Timothy Young of Memphis, Tennessee, Alexandria Young of Denver, Colorado, Drew Young of Avoca, Iowa, Aaron Young of Avoca, Iowa, Arianna Young of Denver, Colorado, and Elliot Young of Avoca, Iowa; her great-granddaughter, Ava Nikol Young of Bastrop, Texas; her siblings, Gwen (Dale) Payne of Millard, Shirley Joanne Bruce of Indianaplis, Indiana, Larry (Nancy) Bowman of Atlantic, Iowa, Robert (Penny) Bowman of Hamburg, Iowa, Maxine Vance of Shenandoah, Iowa, Gary Bowman of Essex, Iowa, Doris (Randy) Gray of Shenandoah, Iowa, and Rita (Ron) Straw of Shenandoah, Iowa.

A Celebration of Life graveside service will be held Wednesday, September 5, 2012, at 11:00 a.m. in the Atlantic Cemetery.

Lunch will be served following the graveside service in the community room at Hockenberry Family Care.
