Marjorie Grubbs

Marjorie Grubbs, 81, of Adair, Iowa, passed away from cancer Sunday evening, August 5, 2007, at her residence.

Marjorie Alice Grubbs was born December 9, 1925, in rural Lewis, Iowa, to George and Lena (Beisser) Kirchhoff. She attended Lewis School and graduated in 1943.

She married Bernard Grubbs on March 2, 1952, in the Methodist Parsonage in Lewis. After their marriage, Marjorie and Bernard moved south of Adair. Then in 1954 they moved north of Atlantic and then in 1958 they moved back south of Adair to their current home.

Marjorie was a full time homemaker and mother. She enjoyed fishing, quilting, sewing, cooking, playing cards, playing the piano and singing. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family.

Marjorie was a very devout Christian and taught Sunday School and Bible School for many years.

Surviving Marjorie is her husband, Bernard Grubbs of Adair.

Son, Darwin Grubbs and his wife Peggy of Adair, and their children, (Dari Grubbs and her sons Darvon, Tyson and Hogan), (Kari Sneller and her husband Robb and their sons Riley and Aiden), and Jesse Grubbs.

Son, Myron Grubbs and his wife Becky of Adair, their children, (Michelle Adams and her husband Jesse and son Ian), Melanie Grubbs and Monica Grubbs.

Daughter, Marlene Huss and her husband Randy of Adair, their children (Travis Huss and his wife Stacy), (Stacy Richter and her husband Jon and daughter Mersadez), (Toni Huss and her friend Aaron Robbins and daughter Gracyn).

Daughter, Sharlene Magill and her husband Terry of Red Oak, and their children, (Shanon Knaus and her husband Bryan and their children Cole and Brynn),
(Terence Magill and his wife Jordan and son Zane), (Tristan Magill and his wife Lestlie), Mick Magill and Nick Magill.

Son, Boyd Grubbs and his wife Cindy of Adair, and their children (Joe Grubbs and his wife Kathlene and son Evan), Joshua Grubbs, James Grubbs, and Jenna Grubbs.

Son, Rodney Grubbs and his wife Connie of Casey, and their daughters Joelle Grubbs, Tatum Grubbs, and Quinn Grubbs.

Son, Leland Grubbs and his wife Joanie of Adair, and their children
Samantha Grubbs, Pvt. Austin Grubbs, and Naomi Kinney.

Daughter, Lorene Schafer and her husband Bill of Adair.

Sister, Dorothy Wedemeyer and her husband Glen of Adair.

Marjorie was preceded in death by her daughter Jolene, her parents, and two brothers, Lloyd and LaVerne Kirchhoff.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, August 8, 2007, at the Canby Friends Church, Canby, Iowa, with the Pastor David Martinson officiating. Visitation with the family will be Tuesday from 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. at the Hockenberry-Mullen Funeral Home in Adair.

Burial will be in the Canby Friends Cemetery, Canby, Iowa, followed by a time of refreshments and memories in the church fellowship hall.

Hockenberry-Mullen Funeral Home in Adair, Iowa, is in charge of the arrangements.
