Marlene Strauss

Marlene Kay Christensen Strauss entered into rest January 30, 2014, at her home in Atlantic, Iowa, surrounded by her family. She was born September 13, 1946, to Arlo and Frances Briles Christensen.

She grew up in Anita, Iowa, and graduated from Anita High School in 1964.

Marlene married Dennis Carl Strauss September 20, 1965. They made their home in Union, Iowa, until his death in 1980. From this union two children were born. She moved to Atlantic, Iowa, and worked for Glacier for 23 years until her retirement.

She enjoyed gardening, wood working and remodeling. She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Preceding Marlene in death are her husband, Dennis; her parents, Arlo and Frances; her parents-in-law, Carl and Lucielle Strauss; her infant brother, Arlo Junior; her sister, Margaret Marnin; and her brother-in-law, Marvin Fries.

Marlene is survived by her son, Brook and his wife, Shirley, of Elliot, Iowa, and her daughter, Amy and her husband, Bill, of Atlantic, Iowa; her sisters, Mary Lou (Larry) of Anita, IA, Mardyll of Fort Collins, CO; her brother, David of Anita, IA; five grandchildren, Cory, Alyssa, Alex, Trint and Aaron; six great-grandchildren, Zain, Laurie, Madison, Lidea, Aleah and Austyn.

A celebration of life will be held at the Legion Hall in Anita, Iowa, on Monday, February 3, 2014, at 1:00 p.m. with lunch following.
