Marlin Frederiksen

June 27, 1936 — January 27, 2014

Marlin Kay Frederiksen was born June 27, 1936, in Exira, Iowa, the son of Kermit and Ellowene Grace (Hensel) Frederiksen, and passed away Monday, January 27, 2014, at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa.

He grew up in Atlantic, Iowa, and graduated from the Atlantic High School in 1954. On June 8, 1958, Marlin was married to Mardelle Fae Andersen at Zion Lutheran Church in Atlantic. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Atlantic.

Marlin was employed as a meat cutter at Paul's and B&D Foods in Atlantic and Craig's Food Mart and Farmer's Food Mart in Walnut, IA. He was then employed as a sales representative for Growth Unlimited in Red Oak, IA until his retirement.

Marlin had a great sense of humor. He was an avid reader and enjoyed spending time at the library searching for his next western novel. He also enjoyed watching old westerns on T.V. and having coffee with his friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mardelle Frederiksen; his parents, Kermit and Ellowene Frederiksen; and his sister and brother-in-law, Mary Joanne and Harold Campbell.

Marlin is survived by his children, David (Michelle) Frederiksen of Wiota, IA and Darcy (Steven) Duncan of Ankeny, IA; his grandchildren, Austin Frederiksen, Ashley Roen, Alicia Duncan, Ethan Frederiksen, Hanna Redler and Corbin Redler; his great-granddaughter, Valia Roen; his brother, Mark (Mary) Frederiksen of Atlantic; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

There will be a visitation from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m., Thursday, January 30, 2014, at Hockenberry Family Care in Atlantic.


Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 31, 2014, at 10:30 a.m., at Hockenberry Family Care, Atlantic, Iowa. Burial will be in the Marne Cemetery, Marne, Iowa.

A luncheon and time for fellowship with family will be held in the community room at Hockenberry Family Care in Atlantic, Iowa, following the services.
