Marsha K. Hartman of Atlantic, Iowa, passed away Friday, January 28, 2011, at the Cass County Hospice Center in Atlantic at the age of 64 years, 1 month and 2 days after a battle with cancer.

Marsha was born December 26, 1946, in Harlan, Iowa, the daughter of Verner R. and Nina (Sorensen) Walters. She was baptized at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Kimballton and confirmed at the Pine Grove Methodist Church near Massena.

The family lived North of Kimballton until 1953, when they moved to the farm South of Anita. Marsha attended country school through the fifth grade, then attended Anita Elementary, Junior High and High School, graduating with the Class of 1965. After graduation, Marsha married Everett Andersen and three daughters were born to this union.

Marsha started her employment career at the Atlantic Bottling Company. Later, while her girls were young, she decided to open a day care in her home. Once the girls were all in school, she chose to enroll in college and pursue a nursing career. Graduating with an LPN degree, she started the career she loved. She worked at nursing homes in Atlantic, Anita and Audubon, the Cass County Memorial Hospital, Jennie Edmundson Hospital and Blair Memorial Hospital. She also did Home Health Care and most recently she worked at Park Place where she enjoyed working with the residents and staff. She was very passionate about her nursing.

Marsha was married to Robert Hartman of North Bend, Nebraska, in 1999. They lived in Nebraska for a short time, and then bought an acreage north of Anita.

She had a great love for the farm and enjoyed all the happy memories there. Marsha was a great mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt and friend.
