Martha Grover

Martha Louise Bicking was born in Bear Grove Township, Cass County, Iowa, June 29, 1915, the daughter of Peter and Bertha (Drager) Bicking and passed away Sunday, September 9, 2012, at the Atlantic Nursing and Rehab Center in Atlantic, Iowa.

She was one of five children and had a twin sister, Mary. Martha attended Bear Grove and Pleasant Dale schools. She worked doing housekeeping and child care for local families.

Martha was married to William "Bill" Grover in Maryland. The couple lived in several different states during his time in the Army, including Alaska and California. The couple returned to Atlantic about 20 years ago. Bill passed away in 1999.

Martha enjoyed shopping, traveling, going to coffee with friends and getting her hair done.

Preceding Martha in death are her husband, Bill; her parents, Peter and Bertha Bicking; and her siblings, Albert, Mary and Lawrence.

She is survived by her sister, Esther Larson of Exira; her nieces and nephews, Donna "Bill" Larson and Lana (Steve) Darling all of Atlantic, Sue Pomeroy of Kemp, Texas, Chris Bicking of Dallas, Texas, Sheila Bicking of Loveland, Colorado, Sandy Bicking of Nebraska, and Dick Bicking and Butch Bicking both of Colorado; her great nieces and nephews, Kevin Christensen and Sarah Darling of Atlantic and John and Scott Pomeroy of Kemp, Texas.

Funeral services will be held Friday, September 14, 2012, at 11:00 a.m. at Hockenberry Family Care, with lunch in Hockenberry's community room following the service. Burial will be in the Atlantic Cemetery at 12:30 p.m. (after the lunch).
