Martin Federick Jorgensen

September 20, 1930 — July 8, 2008

Martin Frederick Jorgensen, the son of Henry Peter and Anena Wilhelmina Christensen Jorgensen, was born September 20, 1930 at this parents home on a farm three miles North East of Hamlin, Iowa and died July 8, 2008 at his home in Audubon, Iowa at the age of 77 years, 9 months and 18 days.
As a small child, Martin and the family moved to Guthrie County where they were engaged in farming.
Martin was baptized and confirmed into the Lutheran Church. He attended various rural schools, then graduated from the Guthrie Center High School with the Class of 1948. Shortly before graduation he enlisted in the Iowa Army National Guard serving for over 20 years being discharged May 12, 1968. Following graduation he was employed as a hired hand for several area farmers. In 1952, his father died and Martin returned home to operate the family farm. He continued to work for different farmers as well as working for fertilizer companies in the spring. Among these Edwards Fertilizer, W.R. Grace, American Cyanamid in Bayard and Garst and Thomas Hybird in the fall. In 1963, Martin and his mother moved to Audubon where he became a truck driver for D.R Burgher hauling heavy equipment.
On March 26, 1971 he was united in marriage to Helen Galene Grabill Hupp at a small Baptist Church in Denison, Iowa. He also at that time welcomed Helens four children Teri, Jeff, L.J. and Steve Hupp into his life. In June of 1971, they moved to an acreage west of Hamlin, Iowa. Martin continued trucking until April of 1973 when he became the operator of the Audubon County Sanitary Landfill. During that time he reentered the Iowa National Guard serving another ten years finally retiring in 1983 obtaining the rank of Master Sergeant. He operated the Landfill until 1984. In May of 1984, he returned to trucking hauling oversize loads for Crouse Contract Carriers until he retired in 1996. He then operated a pilot car service until he retired in July of 2007.
Preceding him in death in addition to his parents are his Father-in-law Garland Grabill; his sister Gladys and husband Howard Hicks; his sister-in-law: Barbara Doyel.
Survivors include his wife Helen Jorgensen of Audubon, IA; his step children: Teri and husband Tom Wallis of Naples, Italy; Jeff and wife Kim Hupp of Clovis, CA; L.J. and wife Jeanna Hupp of Tacoma, WA; Steve and wife Kathy Hupp of Tucson, AZ; his step grandchildren: Derek Monthei of Blacksburg, VA; Alison Hupp of Clovis; Chase and Jake Hupp of Tacoma; Samantha and Abby Hupp of Tucson; Abyee and Arlee Maricigsen of Tucson; Aubree and husband Michael Roach of Tucson; Amee and husband Richard Legarra of Tucson; his step great grandchildren: Amya and Richard Legarra of Tucson; his sister: Ruby and husband Glen Burgett of Guthrie Center, IA; his mother-in-law: Doris Grabill of Audubon; his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Keith and wife Marilyn Grabill; Rex and wife Judy Grabill; Alvin and wife Peggy Grabill all of Audubon; Jim Doyel of Mason City, IA; Sam and wife Shirley Grabill of Audubon; Larry and wife Gayle Grabill of Lander, WY; Nancy and husband Dean Fulmer of Lebanon, MO; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Cemetery:
Inurnment will be in the Maple Grove Cemetery.

Visitation:
The family will meet friends Monday at 10:00 A.M. until the time of the service at the Faith Evangelical Free Church.

Service:
Memorial services will be conducted by Pastor Gayln Wiemers on Monday, July 14, 2008 at 11:00 A.M. at the Faith Evangelical Free Church in Audubon.
