Marvin L. Newby, 64, of Adair, Iowa, passed away Tuesday, April 24, 2007 at the Cass County Memorial Hospital in Atlantic, Iowa.

Marvin Louis Newby was born May 25, 1942 in Bedford, Iowa, the son of Emory and Cordys (Cordell) Newby.

He grew up in the Bedford area and in 1960, graduated from the Bedford High School.

On December 27, 1965, Marvin married Judy Biggs in Omaha, Nebraska

Marvin had worked at the Cudahey Packing Plant in Bedford, Iowa. He also worked for Henningsen Construction Company in Atlantic, the Redi Mix Plant in Missouri Valley and Estherville, Iowa.

They moved to Adair, Iowa 24 years ago where Marvin worked at Schafer Systems until his retirement.

Marvin had played football in high school and enjoyed watching football and car racing on the television.

He enjoyed going to casinos and was a member of the Winnavegas Club in Sloan, Iowa. He was also an avid bingo player. Above all, Marvin cherished the time he spent with his family and two grandsons.

He is survived by his wife, Judy Newby of Adair, Iowa; a son, K.C. Newby and his wife, Lisa of Menlo, Iowa; two grandsons, Cole and Blake Newby, both of Menlo, Iowa. Also surviving are two sisters, Rosemary Kircher of Trenton, Missouri and Janet Sheldon of Indianola, Iowa; a brother, Tobe Newby of Clarinda, Iowa; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Marvin was preceded in death by his parents and several brothers and sisters.

Graveside services will be held at 2:30 p.m., Sunday, April 29, 2007, in the Victoria Township Cemetery, south of Massena, Iowa, with the Reverend Leon Hodges officiating.

Visitation will be Sunday afternoon, from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at the Hockenberry-Mullen Funeral Home in Adair.
