Mary Ann Wulf, the daughter of Nis Max and Ketty Elise (Ronnemose) Nissen, was born January 25, 1919, at her parents’ home southeast of Brayton, Iowa and died March 8, 2018, at the Exira Care Center in Exira, Iowa at the age of 99 years, 1 month, and 13 days.
Mary Ann was baptized at the Lutheran Church then joined Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Exira, Iowa when she was married. She attended rural schools near Brayton, and graduated from the Exira High School with the Class of 1937. Mary Ann then taught rural school near Exira, Iowa for a short time.
On May 28, 1938, she was united in marriage to Arnold (Pat) William Wulf at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Audubon, Iowa by Monsignor Devine. They took a honeymoon all the way to Hamlin, Iowa to the Dance Hall and had a wonderful evening. They were blessed with four children Ronald Earl, Richard Lee, Roger Ray, and Mary Pat. They rented a farm south of Exira, Iowa which they later purchased. They grew row crops and raised livestock for many years until they sold the farm and moved into Exira. Mary Ann worked various jobs, she was a waitress and bookkeeper at the local café, worked in a dress shop, then worked for Community Opportunities until she retired. Pat died on April 18, 1978. Mary Ann lived in her own home and enjoyed babysitting for her grandchildren. Later she moved to the Exira Care Center in Exira, Iowa.
Mary Ann was a member of the Exira Lutheran Church in Exira. She loved to play cards and was a member of several neighborhood card clubs. She also was an avid reader and enjoyed watching TV.
Mary Ann was preceded in death by her husband Pat Wulf; her sons Ronald Earl Wulf and Roger Ray Wulf; her parents; and her brother Earl Nissen.
Survivors include her son; Rick Wulf of San Antonio, Texas; her daughter Mary Pat Greving and husband Don of Exira; her grandchildren and families: Casey Wulf and son Dillan, Michelle (Wulf) Fullen and children Ryan and Hayden, Megan (Wulf) Massey and husband John and children Kennedy and Gage, Camille Wulf and daughter Remington, Arnie Wulf and sons Michael and family, Zachary and Jake; Kurt Greving and wife Sarah and children Braxlin, Kellen, and Lane; Kaitlin (Greving) Anthofer and husband Travis and children Gavin and Ryleigh, and Keith Greving and wife Hannah and children Wesson and Adeline; her sister Betty Drees of Exira, Iowa.; nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
The family will meet with friends on Monday afternoon March 12, 2018, from 1:00 P.M. until the time of the service at the Kessler Funeral Home in Exira, Iowa. Funeral services will be conducted by Pastor Steven Frock on Monday afternoon March 12, 2018, at 2:00 P.M. at the Kessler Funeral Home in Exira, Iowa. Interment will be in the Exira Cemetery in Exira. The casket bearers will be Travis Anthofer, Kurt Greving, Keith Greving, and Don Greving. The family appreciates the many expressions of sympathy and concern. Everyone is invited to meet with the family at the Holy Trinity Catholic Hall, 208 North Kilworth Street, following the committal service.
