Mary Elizabeth Dentlinger

Mary Elizabeth Dentlinger, the daughter of Frank X. and Katie (Bierl) Fischer, was born October 30, 1928, at her parents’ home near Templeton, Iowa and died December 19, 2016, at the Manning Plaza in Manning, Iowa at the age of 88 years, 1 month, and 19 days.
Mary was baptized and confirmed at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Templeton, Iowa. She attended rural school then Sacred Heart Catholic School in Templeton through the eighth grade then received her GED in 1978 from the Audubon High School. After eighth grade she worked as a hired girl then worked in the meat department at Safeway in Carroll, IA.
On June 22, 1954, she was united in marriage to Ambrose Frank Dentlinger at the Sacred Heart Church in Templeton, Iowa. They were blessed with six children: Vickie, Donna, Lori, Kevin, Bruce and Connie. They lived in California for one month until Ambrose was discharged from the U.S. Navy. They returned to Iowa and lived in Royal, IA where Ambrose was a farm hand. They moved to Templeton in 1956 and rented a farm from Martina Langel. until they purchased their farm north of Audubon in 1963. During this time Mary was a homemaker caring for the children and also helped Ambrose farm. She drove the farm equipment, raised chickens, and grew a large vegetable garden. They retired from farming. Ambrose died on May 28, 1995. Mary lived on the farm until she moved to the Manning Plaza in October of 2015.
Mary was a member of the St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Audubon, Iowa. She was a member of the Altar and Rosary Society. Mary was a 50 year member of the Catholic Daughters in Templeton, IA. She loved to garden and always had an exhibit at the Audubon County Fair where she won many awards. Mary enjoyed quilting and sewing and was an excellent cook. But above all she enjoyed being with her family.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband Ambrose Dentlinger; her parents; her siblings: John & Elizabeth Fischer, Hilda & Alvin Steffes, Clarence & Agatha Fischer, Leonard & Lucille Fischer, Rita & Joseph Ferden; her brothers- in- law: Robert Pelfresne. Wilbur and Genevieva Dentlinger, Francis Dentlinger, Rita & Alvin Ferneding, Al and Catherine Dentlinger, John & Rita Dentlinger, Marie & George Siepker, Norman Dentlinger & Anita Dentlinger, nieces and nephews.
Survivors include her children Vickie (Clark) Tibben of Audubon, Donna (James) Grossman of Glidden, Lori (Dale) Willenborg of Dedham, Kevin (Peggy) Dentlinger of Guthrie Center, Bruce of Audubon & Connie of Red Oak, Iowa; her fifteen grandchildren: Adam (Laura) Luetje of Ankeny, Dan Tibben of Manning, Matt (Alyssa), Tom & Nick (Kristy) Willenborg of Dedham, Dave (Danielle) Tibben of Carroll, Dennis Tibben of Des Moines, Sarah (Brian) Flaherty of Osceola, Ashley (Josh) Reich of Corning, Jenifer (Skylar) Risdal of Glidden, Amy (Dustin) Eisenbacher of Lidderdale, Katie (Jerrod) Luetje of Ogden, Kristina Grossman of Storm Lake, Jason Grossman of Indianola and Christopher Grossman of Glidden; her eleven great grandchildren: Carter & Claire Luetje, Charlie, Lauryn & Stella Tibben, Collin, Breanna & Emma Willenborg, Jackson & Clayton Reich & Hannah Flaherty; her two sisters: Catherine Pelfresne of Otsego, Michigan & Dorothy (Frank) Youngblood of Snohomish, Washington, a brother and sister in law: Otmar & Colette Fischer of Algona, Iowa & a sister in law: Katherine Dentlinger of Coon Rapids, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
The family will meet with friends Wednesday afternoon December 21, 2016, beginning at 3:00 P.M., with a Rosary at 4:00 P.M. and a Scripture Service at 7:00 P.M. at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Audubon, Iowa. Funeral services will be conducted by Reverend Antony Mathew, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Audubon, Iowa, on Thursday December 22, 2016, at 1:00 P.M. Interment will be in the St. Patrick’s Catholic Cemetery in Audubon, Iowa. The casket bearers will be Adam Luetje, Matt Willenborg, Tom Willenborg, Nick Willenborg, Dan Tibben, Dave Tibben, Dennis Tibben, Jason Grossman and Christopher Grossman. The honorary casket bearers will be Sarah Flaherty, Ashley Reich, Jenifer Risdal, Amy Eisenbacher, Katie Luetje, and Kristina Grossman.
