Mary Lehman

Mary Louise Lehman, 89, of Adair, Iowa, died Wednesday, July 15, 2015, at Caring Acres Nursing & Rehab Center in Anita Iowa.

She was born February 1, 1926, in Lake City, Iowa, the oldest child of eight children to Alton Parker and Maybelle (Hermansen) Harris. Mary grew up near Panora, Iowa. She was united in marriage to Dallas Lehman on February 4, 1945, at the Panora Christian Church in Panora. Shortly after their wedding, they moved from Panora to the Adair area where she lived all of her married life.

Mary was a great cook and taught many of her children (and their spouses) how to cook. She loved to sew, crochet, read, tend to her large garden and listen to music. Mary loved music so much that she became very knowledgeable of what the name of songs were and who sang them. She was also very good at knowing who the movie stars were. Mary had a passion for clothes and shopping but her greatest love of all was her family. She did everything for her family and surrounded her home with pictures of them. Mary loved to cook a large Sunday meal and always cooked extra as she knew that at least one more person would show up for the meal. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Adair and a Friendly Club member.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Dallas Lehman; parents, Alton and Maybelle Harris; and her siblings, Alton Harris. Elda Hay, Joan Bohlender, Charles Harris, John Harris and Donnie Ray in infancy.

Mary is survived by her children, Robert (Laurel) Lehman of Adair, IA, Donald (Kathy) Lehman of Anita, IA, Judy (Robert) Larsen of Sutherland, IA, Jane McCann (Wes Wahlert) both of Anita, IA, Jerry (Connie Gheer) Lehman of Anita, IA and Gene (Keri) Lehman of Van Meter, IA; 15 grandchildren, Allen (Randi Sue) Lehman of Guthrie Center, IA, Andrew Lehman of Adair, IA, Chuck (Teresa) Ramsey of Anita, IA, Angela (Jason) Hill of Harper, TX, Anthony Larsen of Sutherland, IA, Ann Nelson of Atlantic, IA, Lori (Chris) McGinnis of Des Moines, IA, Kevin (Debora) McCann of Anita, IA, Keith (Chantelle) McCann of Menlo, IA, Derrick (Sara) Lehman of Ankeny, IA, Jarrad Lehman of Cedar Falls, IA, Korrin (Aaron) Paul of Lewis, IA, Dallas (Olivia) Lehman of West Des Moines, IA, Tyler (Emmy) Lehman of West Des Moines, IA, and Amy Lehman of Van Meter, IA; 20 great-grandchildren; sister, Dorothy Corsbie of Panora, IA, other relatives and friends.

Visitation with family will be from 2:00 - 4:00 P.M., Sunday, July 19, 2015, at Hockenberry Family Care in Adair, Iowa.

Funeral services will be 10:30 A.M. Monday, July 20, 2015, at the United Methodist Church, Adair, Iowa, with burial in Sunnyhill Cemetery in Adair, IA.
