Mary F. Maxwell, 71, of Atlantic, Iowa, passed away Wednesday, October 15, 2014, at Creighton University Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska.
Mary Francis Maxwell was born April 1, 1943, in Villisca, Iowa, to Albert and Viona (Sutherland) Ping. She lived most of her life in the Atlantic area and attended the Atlantic school system, graduating from Atlantic High School in 1961. She married Steve Maxwell December 23, 1977, at the Baptist Church in Atlantic.
Mary's vocational career included employment at Atlantic Nursing and Rehab as a secretary, a proof reader for the Clarinda Company and a radio dispatcher for the Atlantic Police Department.
Her favorite activities included going to yard sales, studying genealogy, listening to Johnny Cash and Joe Diffie (she was member of the Joe Diffie Fan Club), cooking special dishes for her family, and she was especially happy to see and interact with her grandchildren.
Preceding Mary in death were her parents; a son, James Denny; and 2 grandsons.
Surviving Mary are her husband, Steve Maxwell of Atlantic, IA; son, John Maxwell of Anita, IA; daughters, Melissa Jones and her special friend, Joe Robinson of Walnut, IA, Rachael Maxwell and fiancé, Chad Litty of Atlantic, IA and Susan (Vincent) Infantino of Maryville, MO; 15 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren.
Visitation with family will be from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m., Monday, October 20, 2014, at Hockenberry Family Care in Atlantic, Iowa.
The funeral service will be 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, October 21, 2014, at Hockenberry Family Care in Atlantic with burial in the Atlantic Cemetery.
