Mary Wengert

Mary Jane Dorsey was born December 20, 1921, the daughter of Lesile L. and Ola Gransbury (Heath) Dorsey in Anita, Iowa, and passed away Wednesday, January 16, 2013, at the Carlisle Care Center in Carlisle, Iowa.

She attended Cosmetology school and worked as a cosmetologist at Luther Park and Valley View Village until she retired in 1982. After her retirement, Mary Jane volunteered at the Des Moines General Hospital.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Paul Wheatley and William Wengert; her parents, L. L. and Ola Dorsey; her son, Don Wheatley; and her siblings, Donald Dorsey, Wilbur Dorsey, Neitha Littlefield, Leitha Jensen, Lois Barber, Dortha Adams Doris Lonowski and Harriet Baylor; half siblings, Claude Dorsey, Helen Layton, Lesile Dorsey, Raymond Dorsey, Roy Power and Paul Power.

Mary Jane is survived by her son, Ed (Julie) Wheatley of Plattsmouth, NE; her step-children, Linda (Bill) Heathcote of Phoenix, AZ and David (Phyllis) Wengert of Liberty, MO; 13 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, January 22, 2013, at 11:00 a.m. at the United Methodist Church followed by a committal service in the Evergreen Cemetery, both in Anita, IA.

A time for visitation, including lunch, will take place in the United Methodist Church fellowship hall following the committal service.
