Matthew Arnold Ericksen, the son of Martin Arnold and Lisa Ann (Hansen) Ericksen, was born March 2, 1985, at the Cass County Memorial Hospital in Atlantic, Iowa and died August 5, 2014, at St Anthony Regional Hospital in Carroll, Iowa at the age of 29 years, 5 months, and 3 days.
Matthew was baptized at the Brayton Lutheran Church in Brayton, Iowa and confirmed at the Elk Horn Lutheran Church in Elk Horn, Iowa. He attended Atlantic Community Schools graduating with the High School Class of 2004.
Matthew moved to Oskaloosa, Iowa where he was employed at Imagine the Possibilities. Later he moved to New Hope Village in Carroll, Iowa and participated in the Adult Day Service Program. Following a series of respiratory issues, Matthew was unable to remain at New Hope Village and became a resident of Midwest Opportunities in Creston, Iowa. Due to State regulations, he moved to the Harmony House in Waterloo, Iowa. The past two years he has resided at the Carroll Health Center in Carroll, Iowa where he could be closer to his family.
Matthew enjoyed being outdoors, watching NASCAR or a good movie on TV, and was an avid Iowa Hawkeye fan. But most of all he enjoyed being with his family and friends. The family is very appreciative for the exemplary care and support given to them and to Matthew at the Carroll Health Center, the Harmony House, and Midwest Opportunities.
Matthew was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents Arthur and Annabelle Hansen; his paternal grandmother Sandra Ericksen; and his uncles Kenneth Ericksen and Dale Ericksen.
Survivors include his parents Marty and Lisa Ericksen; his sister Courtney Ericksen all of Audubon, Iowa; his grandfather Eldon Ericksen of Lewis, Iowa; his uncles Randy Hansen of Exira, Iowa, Roger and Deb Ericksen of Lewis, Iowa, Doug and Sandee Ericksen of Harlan, Iowa, Mark and Teresa Ericksen of Atlantic, Iowa, his aunt Vicky Ericksen of Kimballton, Iowa; cousins, other relatives and friends.
