Matthew Terry Sunberg

Matthew Terry Sunberg, the son of Terry Sunberg and Leanne Tessman (Sunberg) Wiskus, was born December 1, 1994, at the Audubon County Memorial Hospital in Audubon, Iowa, and died November 22, 2014, east of Audubon from injuries received in an auto accident at the age of 19 years, 11 months, and 21 days.
Matt was baptized and confirmed at the Ross Calvary United Methodist Church in Ross, Iowa. He attended Audubon Community Schools graduating with the High School Class of 2013. During his school years he helped his Dad and Grandpa Sunberg operate the farm. After graduation he worked full time helping to plant and harvest row crops and raise cattle. Matt was always willing to help wherever he was needed. He helped his father and neighbors sort and load hogs, baled hay, and drove truck. He also worked part-time for Jerry Riesgaard moving cattle and helping with his seed business.
Matt was a member of the Ross Calvary United Methodist Church in Ross, Iowa. He had been an FFA member while in school. He enjoyed spending time with his many friends. Matt loved his red Ford Super Duty Diesel Crew Cab pickup, tinkering in his work-shop, and loved the newest member of his family Bandit his dog. He enjoyed collecting knives and guns. Matt had a great sense of humor and always had a smile on his face.
Matt was preceded in death by his grandfather Charles Wiskus and his great grandparents.
Survivors include his father and mother Terry and wife Marla Sunberg of Audubon, Iowa and Leanne and husband Craig Wiskus of Exira, Iowa; his sisters Amanda Sunberg and Chris Young of Exira, Iowa and Missy Sunberg and Kyle Helmholtz of Iowa City, Iowa; his step brothers and step sister Nick Hoffman and son Montana Hoffman of Dallas Center, Iowa, Monica and husband Jake Lawson and children Blaine and Gannon Lawson all of Stuart, Iowa, Nathan Wiskus and daughter Kendall of Bellevue, Nebraska, Cody Wiskus and Adam Wiskus both of Jacksonville, North Carolina; his grandparents Duane and Cleone Tessman of Audubon, Iowa, Dwayne and Pat Sunberg of Hamlin, Iowa, Cleo Wiskus of Exira, Iowa, and Bobby and Madeline Thompson of West Des Moines, Iowa; his aunts and uncles Dave and Darcy Tessman and children Derek Tessman and Taylor Duvall and son Tate, Bryce Tessman and Stacey Bruch, and Tyler Tessman all of Audubon, Iowa, Tereasa and Gary Helm and children Danielle Thomas and fiancé Mike Hillenga and Colton Thomas all of Altoona, Iowa, and Tanya and Mike Lamb of Greenfield, Iowa; his God-parents Steve and Raydene Mathisen of Audubon, Iowa; his beloved dog Bandit, other relatives and many friends.
